Yes, there are various engine swaps that people have done. There is even one person I know of who is putting an EJ33 from an SVX into his. I've seen lots of swaps with 911 engines of various displacements. Even turbos! Others like good 'ole 'Merican iron and put big a$$ v8s in. Others get other Suby engines. For some reason (availability?) the 2.7L Turbo from an XT6 seems to be a popular one. I bet that as more ricer rich kids smash their WRX STi, people will be pulling those engines out and converting.

One big problem with the 911, or other big displacement engine swaps is that it totally messes up the balance of the car. My rebuilt 2 liter is never going to win me any stoplight drag races, but you'll have a tough time keeping up with me on a winding road course. My 914 can outhandle the new Mitsubishi Evo VII given a driver of equal skill....

Hey, I'm no Porschephile. My sports car droolings are more of the JDM variety.

Anyway, I wasn't saying it was a Triumph/MG, but had that general 60's roadster design to it. It was more of a passing observation...

One of my co-workers loves to tell the story of his '75 Triumph Spitfire, with the electric overdrive. It seems that no matter who tried to fix it, there was some kind of short, and when he would touch the button, it would send a strong shock through the gearshift lever.

No worries Chiketkd, I was just kidding. We need all the sports car fans we can get in order to stave the craze for monster trucks and SUVs...

I had a headlight wire short out in the steering column of my 65 TR4A and burnt out the ENTIRE electrical system, TWICE! I had motor mounts fail and the engine slid back and crushed the batery. After TRs I graduated to Jaguar E-Types and that is a whole other ball game. Oh to be young and stupid again.
I still have a weakness for British Iron.
Quirky cars get to me Iguess that's why I like the SVX

E-type Jags

IMHO, one of the most beautiful automobiles of all time. If I had the money and space, I'd buy a roller E-type coupe and just put it in the garage. Roll it out on sunny days to wash it and bask in the beauty. Then roll it back into the garage. I wouldn't want to try and keep one roadworthy

I also really like the XK150s. And 120s...all those 'vintage' Jaguars (pron jag-U-r) are stunning to behold

Dayum, either the insurance company shot low or you got some cheap bodymen back there I got $1800 quote 5 years ago when my rear quarter pannel was dented, and he said that if the pannell was replaced then it would have been more like $2500
