Heh, just picked up my jeep... I guess I'm more of a truck person. I tried the whole rare exotic sports car thing, but its not for me... Oh well. The jeep looks better sitting next to the bronco than the svx did

Yes... yes he did....

But please don't sell the car to a kid that will not or can not take care of it... Please, sell it to someone that appreciates the car and will take the time that we here at the SVX-net think that it deserves...

Bad rebuild.

The trouble that you have is caused by the High clutch not releasing. That is why it only works in 3/4th. I would guess that when this transmission was installed, the transmission oil cooling system was not cleared. This has cut the amount of cool lube that the gears have. As a result the high set has burned up.

Take it back, tell them whats happened, and have it fixed at their expense.

Harvey.

1st lets get one thing clear a 96 tahoe doesn't have 5 forward gears. If your counting reverse sa one gear ok then your right...just didn't want you to think a thaoe is like the new exploders with a 5 spd auto tranny -lol- & you thought you had problems with your SVX -lol- try rebuilding a tranny and engine every 150k on a 4x4 tahoe..good luck...

maybe if you just got somone to fix your diff and tranny right and added the tranny oil cooler...you just might not have so many problems...or is it your driving style..3 trannys....tends to tell me... you like to really use that (shift slector) and romp on it... i duno if you heard but this..but the SVX is a lux-performance car ..more ephisis on the lux. part -lol-... baby it don't abuse it... cars are like people you take care of them they take care of you ... unless its an escort..and let me tell you those ****ers can take a beating -lol-

goodluck in your search...and the tahoe won't give you the same thrill and looks as the SVX did... for $3500 bucks... its a nice car to fix and keep...i just suggest you get a daily driver and keep the SVX for sundays ??

Hmmm, I'm on my 3rd tranny

Is that a bad thing?

the 1st one I didn't like, but still have in the back yard.
the 2nd one was great, so I broke it by being stupid, or something, don't ask.
the 3rd one is a nice clean 4eat from a 97, very smooth.
And let me hope that the car doesn't see a #4, cause then I'll be trading it in for a WRX, and my girlfriend doesn't think thats a good idea.

Oh and uhh.. I never abused my car. I barely even put 5k miles on the tranny before it blew again. It blew while i was driving back from upstate ny, at 75mph the entire way... Lost half the gears. I never raced it, I never used the manual mode, I never even redlined the engine, period. I haven't even seen how fast the car can go because its always been in the shop or had some weird sound in it that made me afraid of pushing it beyond the 45mph mark that most roads between my job and house are.

the tranny was under warranty. they fixed it, it runs i guess. i didn't drive it, i had my girlfriend take it to my buddy's house because i have no room in the driveway for a 4th car. anyway, its already sold. i'm not mad at the car, i'm just sick of it. if my truck broke down, it'd get fixed, and that would be the end of it. half the mechanics i bring the car to don't even know what it is, and i don't have the time to shop around. i work 45 hours a week, i have a sick father, and i snowboard 2 days a week. so having a car as a top priority isn't exactly the highlight of my day.
