I got the following:

2 - $10 gift certificates for a grocery store.
$25 cash
We get a free lunch on Tuesday.

I also get a 4 day weekend with 2 days paid.

The first 3 items are all paid for from a fund. This fund is filled from the profits of the vending machines in our plant. Needless to say my company is cheap.

My stepdaughter works at Petsmart and she got a christmas tree ornament with her name and the year on it. I guess I should be happy for mine.

Is America in recession?

I have just given my 1st year apprentice £100 bonus and £50 of tools for Christmas, and around here that is considered tight.

I must say that I am very pleased to even have a job this year.... that's all the bonus I need.
We haven't had a party or a bonus for three years now, but I'd rather the company spend the money paying bills than doing something frivolous. Bills paid = company afloat = my job.

The Grinch stole Christmas

Friday (12-19-03) afternoon, I received a call from the lead mech. eng'r. on the project. He has been at the jobsite in Boulder, CO; and I am at the office, just outside Phila. He told me that the project manager wants me and the lead process eng'r. off the project on Jan. 2nd. I guess we're too expensive for the project manager's taste.
The lead ME also gave me 5 additional things to "get done" by Jan. 2nd. After I did an analaysis of the additional work load and discussed it with him; we both agreed that my last day on this project will be Jan. 9, 2004.
Now I must find another project to work on.

So I guess I got 'grinched' for Christmas.... Bah Humbug !

Lucky me

I was ALLOWED to take leave for 30 days to be with my family. I am very thankful that I can spend the holidays with them. AS for a bonus.. plz... no such thing in the military. I guess a bonus would be not being deployed right before the holidays.

So, Job #1- $25 card to Safeway- new owner of health care facility. We went from non-profit to "for profit". I have heard that the new owner may be next on 60 minutes for medicare fraud.......
oh well.
Job #2 (because of uncertainty of job #1) $25 to Fred Meyers. pretty good deal because I am per diem, and really don't expect anything working in health care (at least at a company level)
The good thing about job 2 is that they are union- and pay at double time for holidays- therefore I volunteer for all the holidays there, get paid for being off at job 1 and get double time at job 2.
The downside is that I am scheduled every day.
The upside is that if you work everyday, it is harder to spend money. I still succeed in spending what I make +10%. If it is good enough for Uncle Sam-it must be OK for me!
2 jobs - 2 kids - 2 svx's - 1 wife- life is good......

Yeah, having recently bought the SVX, my checking account definitely needed a lift. Believe me, it came as a huge surprise.
