Yeah, that kind of puts the engines on the oil rigs I work on to shame, and they're nothing to laugh at. Each rig has six 10,000hp CAT diesels, each one is about 10ft x 30ft. Quite impressive to see them up close, and even more impressive to feel them running no matter where you are on the rig.

Thanks Harry that IS impressive and an interesting and worthwhile post.
Even more interesting would be a shot of the machine tools capable of machining the huge components involved. !

Does Chicane's MEP theory apply to that engine?
108920 horsepower 14 cylinders x 1820 litres = 25480 litres 102 rpm 108920 / 25480 * 0.102 = 41.9 If the theory does apply then that's a pretty impressive number. |
