Auto Door Lock

Is there any way to bypass or disable the automatic Door locking feature on the later model SVXs...

My 92 doesn't do this but the 95 will lock the doors if you get out with it running or if the keys are left in the ignition, even if the car isn't running.

This makes valet parking a coin toss and my 95 has locked me out at a couple of gas stops when I forgot to take the keys out. It's embarrassing to have to call my wife to come unlock the car.

The operators manual for the 95 includes a warning not to leave the keys in the ignition and shut the doors, but no instructions on how to turn the damn thing off.

Re: Auto Door Lock

Neither my 94 or my 97 does this. What exactly do you have to do in order to get it to lock you out? What trim exactly is the car and is there any aftermarket alarm system present that you're aware of?

Also (and I realize you didn't ask for this advice, but I figured I'd throw it out there) I always keep a spare key (the kind that's just plain, flat metal) in my wallet in case I get locked out. Saved me a few times, I'll admit.

Personally I keep a spare car key in my wallet, that aside, I thought you had to hold the handle when shutting the SVX door to keep it locked? Or maybe my svx is special . I did just test it to confirm that is the case for me (hold the handle). Maybe the switch is going bad?

Re: Auto Door Lock

Pull the fuse I think it is 13 .. I did that and ended up with manual locks. It is a pain when you are use to power / remote keyless entry , but at least u do not get locked out.. BTW I always carry a spare key in my wallet. That 1st $75 locksmith call cured me.

Re: Auto Door Lock

I don't have to do ANYTHING to make the doors lock. when you get in and turn on the ignition, start the car and move it, the doors LOCK. Even if I push the center UNLOCK switch, they re-lock as soon as I release the unlock button.

My 1992 and 1993 Svx's didn't lock automatically like the 95. When the car is stopped and in park, the unlock switch works to let a passenger out, but if you leave the keys in the ignition, such as to pump gas.. you hear an ominous click as the door shuts, and both doors lock you out.

YES I do carry a spare key in My wallet as this has happened twice at a local Casino where I valet park. The forlorn look on the valet's face as he stands there next to the locked and idling car is too much to bear for a sensitive guy like me.

And YEAH.. I figured the fuse pull as a last resort but even though My remote door release isn't working, I want the solenoids activated so I can lock and unlock both doors with the key.
