Start Delay
My SVX has started to delay when I turn to start on ignition... It delays 1/4 to 1/2 sec before starter engages.. . Do you have any ideas?
Another electrical thing that is happening infrequently now, but quite frequently recently is: The radar detector suddenly goes off and immediately back on while driving... And, sometimes the radio goes off and then right back on, but infrequently.. . ? Any ideas? Are these two (3) electrical problems possibly related? Thanks for any input! Jim

Re: Start Delay
I'm not sure without poking around your car, but it sounds like you've got a loose connection somewhere.
Double check all the connections at your battery, and the fuses under the hood. Make sure everything is clean, and tight. If everything looks good there, reach under the dash and start pulling on connectors. watch them closely, if they move, push them together, until they click. Concentrate on the bundles around the base of the steering column. You may have knocked something loose with your foot. If you don't see, or feel any loose connectors, start pulling GENTLY on the wire bundles. With the ignition in the run posiotion, you should be able to find the bad connection when your radio/radar detector shut off. From there, it's just a matter of finding where it's come loose at. Wiring troubles can be a REAL pain in the butt! Be paitent, and don't just start yanking on things, or you'll have bigger probs! Be gentle with it, it's not glass, but it's not steel cable either ya know!

Re: Start Delay
Another possibility is the ignition switch itself (not the lock cylinder)... after years and years of use the contacts can be worn or dirty allowing the contact points on the accessories connection to momentarily lose contact, causing the accessories to reset but still have contact for the EFI which is powered by the ON connections in the switch. Does this stuff happen randomly or more when you go over bumps?
