What did you do this weekend?

Personally, I sweated my ass off rebuilding a Detroit 671... This dinasour is the same one we had to do two years ago... A crack in the old exhaust manifold allowed salt air and water to get into two of the cylinders this past winter... We had to pull the head and clean up the two cylinders giving us problems, rebuild the entire head with all new exhaust valves, seats and seals. Today we re-assemble the exhaust onto the GIgantic turbo and fire her up!!... Not that I don't like working on engines, but when the head weighs close to 500 lbs... It gets a little hard to load onto the motor.

Pics maybe later...

Tom

Re: What did you do this weekend?

I went out and got a new charcoal grill. Decent sized one with cast iron grates. Then I cooked 12 hamburgers and some corn on the cob for the family (we got together for mine and my brother's birthday). After that I played a little Wii bowling the had some cake and ice cream. Spent the rest of my afternoon playing video games with my brother. That evening I cooked a pork loin on the grill. Then I went to bed. Today we're grilling some more.

I was practicing shifting and getting into reverse. It goes into reverse consistently if i come to a complete stop. Shift into first, then reverse. If that didn't work I just release the clutch in neutral and repeat. No grinding for me

Re: What did you do this weekend?

Installed brand new/cryo treated rotors and pads on all four corners, along with ss brake lines. And attempted to troubleshoot my a/c system before I broke the high side coupling!!

Re: What did you do this weekend?

good deal, what's the difference? I had the svx up there around 2003/2004, I lived on Taylor Ave. so it may have been likely I was parked by Subway. I have a claret. Chris.

Different bulbs, no fog lamps, electronic leveling, & glass lenses. I lived on Webster Ave. that must have been yours.

That looks quite superb Michael. I'm absolutely jealous.

I would love a pearl white car, particularly one in as good a condition as yours.

Re: What did you do this weekend?

I removed my AC belt tensioner to remove some rust from the bracket (it looks like crap) and discovered the idler pulley's bearing is shot. I guess that was the reason the AC was howling. I thought it was the compressor. This is going to be a lot cheaper and easier. Anyone have an AC tensioner?

Re: What did you do this weekend?

You can replace the bearing, an auto parts store or the Subaru dealer should be able to order you one. I just had to repair the one on my Legacy cuz I overtightened it and bent the shizz out of the bolt, luckily I was able to straighten it and make it work.

And this weekend I did some work on my wife's Turbo Legacy, put the sway bar back on the Peugeot, swapped wheels around (Put the old wheels back on my wife's crunched Impreza, put the ghetto gold wheels that were on it, on my Legacy wagon, and took the WRX wheels that were on my Legacy wagon and put them on the Turbo Leg), and today I fixed the AC in my Legacy, and washed like 4 cars, and later when I get home I'm going to put the corner lamp I got from the junkyard into my SVX so I can drive it on Monday. That's about it

Re: What did you do this weekend?

I know, I'm looking for a used one. I'd be spending near $100 I for a new one.

Re: What did you do this weekend?

Two days of autocross! It's unfortunate that the tranny swap pushes me to (and technically beyond) SM, cos I can't hold a candle to anything in there, but it still made for good times!

I got a lot of compliments on my work in the slalom bits, and maybe twice as many for the ROAR of my car! The slalom show was courtesy of my arms, but the popular sound was all courtesy of a loose exhaust clamp - the one right in front of the muffler. I should have pulled the thing right off for track day!
