problems with my svx

ive been driving my svx for about 4 months now and for about the past month it has been getting stuck in 2nd intermittently. If i drive it for a while and shut it off and start it back up, it will sometimes go back to shifting normally. The power light flashes 16 times. I took it to a local auto shop and they pretty much took it on a one hour test drive, but they did say that it was probably the tcu because of the fact that it will shift normally if restarted. Also, within the past few days it has been acting strange. when stuck in 2nd, the revs would go up and down and then the motor would die, i would actually have to start it back up. Im goin to try to get it to a subaru dealership to get the tcu reflashed, but any advice you have would help.

In view of the fact that you state that sometimes the transmission shifts normally, all is not all doom and gloom. The fault more than likely hopefully involves a control function, rather than a mechanical failure.

Make sure the outfit you take it too knows more than the possible depth of your pocket.
