engine dieing

Hi just logged on for first time had an Xt6 got rid of it and got legacy got rid of it etc anyway bought an svx 1993 ann. edition and started driving it ran great for about 3 months since then has devoleped a nasty habit of dying sometines in park or while driving can most of the time be restarted but not always Will ALWAYS crank though simetimes starts to only die again can most of time be fixed by turning completely off and restarting it can anyone help me with this problem it is annoying and dangerous

Thumbs up engine dying

Has similar problem. Neede 3 towings. it was the fuel pump. "check engine light" will not come on. suggest change fuel pump.

check engine light does stay on for approx 5-10sec after dieing SOMETIMES otherwise it starts but as soon as accelerator is pushed it dies again it will normally do it mostly on the top half of gas tank does that matter? I am thankful for all the help I have receved. x? what is pump the approx cost for fuel pump
and what kind is good other than OEM? walboro?

you can pull out the back seat and check the connector of fuel pump. But I doubt its the fuel pump, usually they dont go bad unless you have water or always running almost empty all the time.

Sorry about the hijak

I have the same sort of problems, and i was wondering if you could post a pic of the fuel pump connector and how we're supposed to know if it's bad.

Did you check the codes? Could be either a Vacuum leak or the fuel pump.

Question parts and connections

hi me again I was wondering if the gentleman that was offering parts wold be interested in selling the belt cover off his svx i am missing mine also I have checked the fuel pump connector and it is solidly on how much pressure should the fuel line have I see aftermarket pumps offering 200 + should it be that high?
I love this car and am trying to make run like new it has 119000 mile on it tranny was rebuilt by subaru @ 94000 miles 2 years ago it has been fluid changed and running fine. on the dieing could the throttle body be gummed up and cause this
problem as subaru has never serviced this car? thanks for ANY help on this matter

Have you checked the codes yet?? It's fairly easy to do, in my opinion it's easier than checking a fuel pump. Procedure can be found in the "How To" at the top of the page, or in "Earthworm's" SVXidedia.

There are a few things that could be causing this that are more common than a fuel pump failure. First step is to check for stored codes.

Exclamation stored codes

Ok so i checked the CE light and received the code of air flow meter is the MAF piece if it is I guess I might have to look for a MAF it only posted the one code 2
times it died again after I had checked AND CLEARED the codes any help??

Do a search for cleaning your MAF, but you may also want to start sourcing a replacement...

maf fix

finally got a replacement maf from a person on ebay from a 92 svx it runs again but still has a small hesitation on accelerating could new maf be going bad also and what years did the mafs for the imprenzas work for the svx or do any mafs work from same years?
