Power light

If you accelerate really fast, on a flat service, and the power light flashes on briefly, if this normal? Or is there yet another problem somewhere?

Only a Justy with an ECVT. All of my other subarus have been manuals.
This one makes me paranoid because of all the things I have heard about automatics in the SVX's.

It was a brave move for the time...too bad they had reliability issues with those trannies.

Actually, surprising enough, I bought my justy with the ecvt from an older woman, it had 60k miles on it, and the ecvt was great, I had no problems during the time I had it, but I always thought it was a very loud car for being so small.

I had a 95 legacy and the manual transmission had bearings that went bad. Right after a clutch replacement. The 95 was the last subaru I had before this SVX. The legacy had transmission, engine, rack & pinion, and brake issues when I got rid of it, it needed something like 6k in repairs... thats what I get for buying a NYC car. Subaru's make me paranoid because of the problems I have had in the past. But i really love them in the winter.

I thought the power light goes on only when you have a problem. The only time I saw mine go on, is when I would accelerate just a week before my trans died. Coincidence? Since my rebuild, the light has never gone on.

My Power light has not come on since that one time when I was accelerating fast, however I have played around with the car several times, and it never did it before or after, makes me wonder if something was not functioning correctly, I would be interested in learning a little more about this power light, see what all the functions it controls. The car seems to run fine, I do notice the occasional "thump" into reverse, but i havent heard it since I changed the fluid and filter.

good and bad of the power light.

The power light is mainly used as an indicator of what shift map youa re using in the TCU. When the throttle is depressed quickly(not necessarily to the floor) the power light will come on and it will shift at the rev limiter until the "power mode" is deactivated (release of throttle).

The Bad: The power light is also used as a sort of "check engine light" upon startup. If you are reading a trouble code, the light will flash 16 times to notify you to check your trouble codes for a fault. If it is not upon startup that it is flashing, you have no transmission codes, it just means you are accelerating quickly
