I remember the first gen had a supercharged model, but the real screamer was the second gen Turbo. Sweet!

the sound of the engine behind me, it just amazing. The guy i'm buying it from also has a turbo motor, which i'll prbly swap in this summer, but I need to work on the suspension and brakes first, since it will be for AutoX mostly

Oh well, more incentive for you to get your butt up here and test drive my car

I like MR2s though, and know someone selling a real nice 91 turbo if you're interested. It may be out of your price range though, not sure.

That's the N/A model? Get the Turbo motor. From what I read in SCC sometime back, it's an easy swap.

If you really want to autocross it, don't do the swap. The N/A Mk2 is the car to have in ES (look up the past years' results at nationals), but the turbo doesn't fare as well. The lag would be an enormous pain in the ass on a lot of our courses locally.

Plus you'd be in SM2, in which you also find Corvettes.

I have a Mk1 and I love it. I'd like to get a Mk2, but that depends on whether the SEB combines CS and ES like they want to.

I do encourage you to autocross the car. It'll feel like a regular front-engine car to most drivers, but when you get close to the limit in some moves it can bite you hard. I think it's important that you learn those limits away from traffic. I spun to the inside of a turn last summer and ran over the timing lights. I have since learned the car better. Just be careful lifting or braking while turning.

How would you like some MR2 with that paint fade?

Nice find. I always wanted one in red or orange.

That car has some serious desert-style paint fade. I hope the interior faired better. I'm sure it will look great with a fresh spray.

I still love that body style. What are you allowed to do to the N/A in the class it's in?

If he wants to compete in a stock class (E Stock as Pockets mentioned), wheels must remain the same size and width as stock, and he should go with the biggest r-compounds he can stuff on them (w/o rolling the fenders). A panel air filter is allowed in the stock airbox (no cone filters), as well as a catback exhaust system. Other than those mods, get a larger front sway bar (can't touch the rear) as well as better struts/shocks (can't touch the springs). Oh, and dial in as much -ve camber as possible w/o using camber bolts.

Do those mods and you'll have an n/a MR2 that's ready for some serious Solo-II action!!!
