I hope he finishes safely, and I will pray for him.

That rider is Charlie Rauseo, Mikes' PanAmerican/KTM teammate.
He can't ride safely like that so he dropped out yesterday, and gets to go home.
Mike was there last year as the bike mechanic and navigator.

Thanks, guys for your prayers, and positive thoughts.

I was sent these quotes about Dakar, and I thought I would share;
Dakar quotes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A report from rallypan am on Rauseo
Unfortunately, the big news is that Charlie dislocated his shoulder in yesterday's Stage 8 and is out of the race. He was hammering through some bowling ball sized rocks and crashed. He soldiered on through the dunes, but apparently these were extraordinarily difficult this year, and as he continued on, periodically falling, the pain became unbearable. Yesterday's stage knocked out many other people, both bikes and cars.

Charlie spent the night in the desert, burning clumps of camel grass to stay warm. A helicopter finally picked him up yesterday, and he said the dunes looked like a war zone as he flew over them, with trucks and bikes abandoned and stuck everywhere.
`````````````
And this from a post by scot at adventure rider on the Dakar...
I have over 17 Baja 1000s under my belt including 3 Overall Wins and 4 2nd place overall finishes. Trust me when I say you are right, dakar makes the Baja 1000 look like a Sunday morning trailride.
That's just insane.
Your brother Michael is one resiliant and strong individual!
Ok, he broke his wrist on day three, and got a cast on day eight, yep, it sounds like Mike.
Mike's Standing
Mike is now in 92nd place overall for the bikes, finishing 81st in today's stage. Not too bad considering this is his first Dakar. So far 112 bikes have withdrawn from the race from a starting number of 232, plus, of course, the one fatality.
His teammate Jonah Street finished 3rd today, placing him at 22nd overall.
Another update on Mike
Mike finished 52nd today, bringing him up to 89th in the overall standings.
He's still hanging in there!!
His teammate Jonah finished 5th in today's stage, bringing him up to 20th overall.
One more bike dropped out yesterday and two more today, bringing the total number of bikes still running down to 98.
As Jerry (subi-crosser) said, "GO, MIKE, GO!!!"
Mike has made it.
Last stage yesterday, Mike came in 47 for the stage. to finish 84 overall. Only 93 riders finished the rally out of the 242 that started.
Great going for his first run.
Sad about the loss of Andy and the two kids that were killed during the last stages. Something needs to be done to prevent these tragedies, that happen when they go through the towns and villages. Maybe 30mph enforced limits, through them, before It gets a bad name, like the Pan Americana of years ago, through Mexico.
Harvey.
