Thanks. I love that big gaping butt-hole of a front grill. It's different and really makes the car stand out.

Thanks. I'm definitely happy to be finally pulling the trigger on this purchase. If I could mod it, I'd skip stage 1 and go right to stage 2...but having a truly legal car in D-stock is more important to me. Plus, I doubt I'll be at the strip more than 3-4 times in '06 - but I'll see autox action at least 12+ times.

Can't change the factory in D-stock, so the *sweet* seats have to stay!

you know you can flash right back to stock from stage1 and vice versa in a matter of minutes, right?

stage2+ for me when the weather gets nicer.

I'm leaning towards Steel Gray as well. I'll make a final decision after seeing both in person on the 14th!

Yeah, and that's very tempting. The thing with the stage 1 for the '06 WRX is that the gains aren't as big as with the '02-'05 models:

Here's a graph of Stock (Base) vs Stage 1 (Test)

Not much of a gain and not worth $645 in my book. The stage 2 is much better (20+whp gain), but is not easily reversible to stock like the stage 1...

Too much plush stuff in the limited for my tastes. Besides, I love the two tone cloth seats in the TR...

stop magazine racing - i have basically the same engine in the LGT, and there is DEFINITELY a difference. (does the '06 WRX have active valve VTEC-type stuff? AVCS, or whatever Subaru calls it?)
feels like a dog if going back to base map. $645 gets you stage1 AND stage2, and is the best bang-for-buck around. stage2 is more of an obvious gain from what i've heard, but stage1 is no slouch.

Not magazine racing...just gathering my info from a thread Christian @ Cobb started on NASIOC.

FYI, the Stage 1 gains in the '05 LGT are much more significant and worth $640 IMHO...

Does the '05 LGT come stock with the TD04 turbo or did you guys get something slightly larger? The '06 WRX does have the AVCS, but the TD04 can't generate more than 10-11psi in a 2.5L engine by redline.

if I had a choice between the Legacy GT and the WRX id have the Legacy GT... I like the upscale look and its no slouch either. Plus everyone has a WRX, GT's arent as common.

This is more my style, just too expensive... and they made a sweet offer on the 05 WRX I was looking at... I really want it...

And why only the 2.5 in the Legacy? Ugh... it should have gotten a turbo'd H6... The EG33 is such a good engine... I wish they had kept it around.

I can see you now. Drive up to the track and unload the baby seat, put it on the side lines and then drive onto the track.

A turbo 2.5L makes good sense to me. Its far lighter than the EG33 and takes up less space. Having a turbo makes it attractive to the go-fast people who want to go faster. I guess you could say how about an EG33 turbo, but then you are talking about more HP from the factory than the 5MT can handle, and its more HP than is really justified for a Legacy. A properly built EG33 turbo from the factory could easily produce 400 bhp. What would any typical Legacy buyer want with that?

*looks around* uh... YEAH! lol

Look at its competition... it needs more power and an upscale legacy should have something more suited.. its too big for 4 cylinders. Plus can u imagine a nicely tuned exhaust note of an EG33 emiting from a red legacy GT? Sounds perfect to me.
