windows stopped working

I have the service manuals (200 bucks with shipping) and am not an electrical schematic wizard. Manual suggests bad ground, bad #15 10amp fuse and on and on. I was just wondering if someone knew where the relay or if there is one a reset breaker for those. I would be grateful for any input or similar experiences and resolve.
Thanks Mike alias eclique

Can you hear the motor run when you push the button? The most common window failure is the breaking of a little plastic clip that attaches the winder cable to the glass itself. That breaks, the window don't work. It will generally slide down into the door, too. That describe your situation?

Windows stopped working? Try pressing the control+alt+delete buttons at the same time. It will re-boot your computer and you can start all over again. That should cure any problems with windows . . . for the moment, but you may want to run scandisk and then, defrag the hard drive. which sometimes . . . . . . . just a second someone's tapping me on the shoulder . . .

Oh, sorry -- you meant the windows on your SVX. Do you mean to say that ALL of your windows have stopped working? I've never heard of that before. That would have to be a bad fuse or a short. What happened when you discovered they weren't working? Were you trying to lower the windows and "nothing at all" happened. OR, did you try to lower the window and you heard it "try" then quit? OR, do you hear the motor running (like Bill said) on ONE window, but all the others are fine? We'll need a little more info before we can be of much assistance.

RE:Windows
I tried the alt control del but I lost my connection!

When I bought the 93 svx for 1650 1890 off the auto auction floor some jerk trying to detail the car turned a fire hose on the succer I guess to get rid of tobacco smell. I guess a short but under the drivers seat? I used the windows just fine for a couple of days then nothing the next time I tried nothing happened and the sun roof is gone as well.

Randy's point is well taken. If ALL the windows are kaput, I'd look at the fuse. If replacing it either doesn't fix it, or only provides a short term fix, I'd guess you have a short in the wiring somewhere. Let's hope it's a fuse. Your service manual should be able to inform you as to the fuse, its location and size. If it's only ONE window, usually the driver's side, the clip would be my prime suspect.

Thanks everybody. You are all like the guy at the bar telling me where the door I came in is at.
"Thanks again." he said with a grateful grin.

Significant Technical Input
Smile O.K., O.K....

It looks like there's both a circuit breaker and a relay for both the power windows and sunroof either underneath or behind the driver's seat. Automtoive cb's are normally auto-resetting. I'd guess more along the line of the relay being bad, but you need to check them both.

Go to my locker and check out the diagrams, box F shows the cb and relay (for what it's worth) and the conn pic gives a rough approx. of location in car.

Hey beav thanks
I guess I need to take the seat out to get to that stuff. I spent an hour playing contortionist and didn't make much headway. The bracket holding the pw circuit spins around on what ever it is connected to I wonder if it is a ground point and failed there?
Guess I'll keep trin. And really THANKS for the responce.

Hey Mike,

When my windows stopped working I got lucky. I took the drivers side door panel off and found the switch assembly connector had separated from the wire harness. Wish you the same luck.

Later, John

Thanks lamboman1pa
I had read a --all post related to windows and have taken both door panels off. Replaced the door and rear speakers with Xplods sweet. Added 2 internal amped kenwoods 8in. subs. Really great sound but cant roll down the windows to share the sounds. LOL
Thanks for the heads up.

Hey, eclique. Some of us have been in the bar so long that we have to keep telling other people in order to remind ourselves. Belly up, and good luck.

I'd have no problems talking about them in front of their backs.
