MSD Stacker Install

Well, with the snow upon us, I figured this was as good a time as any to start the installation of the MSD Stacker I bought. My first questions for those of you that are already running a Stacker is "did you splice in before or after the stock connectors?" and "which wire did you splice into?" I'm going to go the MIL-Spec slice route versus using the taps that came with the unit.
Thanks in advance for everyone's help.
-Bill

Question Bill:

Will installing this mod move you out of G-Stock next season? The MSD Stacker box is bright red and very visible. Have you found a 'stealthy' place on the frame to hide it?

AFBeefcake,

Haven't looked closely, but does the white connector feed the smaller connectors (blue, green, and white in the picture) that the plug/coil wire for each cylinder plug into?
Thanks!

Chike,
Stacker box? What Stacker box? Let's just say that unless you're a die-hard SVXer, you won't even know it's there....

just follow those coil wires back

Talking This white connector?

Took a closer look and snapped this picture. So, if I'm right and this is the right "white connector", then there's one green wire (Coil (-)) for each cylinder and the two black wires are the Coil (+) wires?

Well people say I'm pretty die-hard for these cars. If you make it to Tom's place next weekend, I'll see how noticeable the stacker box is to my eyes...

Hey Bill, are you doing the Stacker install at the same time you're doing all the other mods/maintenance?

Mychailo,
Yeah...so much for "and this mod resulted in this change in performance..." Good thing is that the Stacker can be unplugged to see with and without performance.
Both knock sensors are done and the everything related to their replacement is back in place. The fuel filter and PCV are done - got the new hoses for the PCV, just have to install them. Other "things" are here, just have to get the time to install them....

AFB,
Thanks! I've been reading the instruction manual for the Stacker and it says to tap the red wire in each Stacker harness into the Coil (+) 12V source for the coils - are these the black wires? (the green wires being the Coil (-) trigger wires for the coils? How did you figure out which (+) went with which 3 coils (cylinders)?
Thanks again.
-Bill

With the stacker there is no fireing order. I just ran the black to black and the green to the reds.

Allso what model stacker do you have? I see MSD changed the Stacker. There used to be two models one for 4 cyl and one for 6 and 8 cyl.

I think I got the 7020 .

The new ones are 7000 with tach outputs.

AFB,
Thanks. I've got the 7020, which works for 6 or 8 cyl engines. I think I'm almost "there" now. So, If I read your post right - with a slight "interpretation" then the orange wires in the Stacker harnesses go to the green wires going into the white connector and the red wires in the Stacker harnesses go to the black wires going into the white connector?

But Billy,
Aren't you planning to run autocross against me this coming year??

Let's see, my handle is "newsvx" - maybe a "die-hard SVXer" ?

You probably would have beat me this past year (I was 6th overall this past year - behind a BMW (mod'ed), a Honda S2000 (very mod'ed), Acura Intergra (mod'ed), Ford Focus STV (driven by two different people, including my son - NOT modified)), if you had run enough weekends. You needed at least five autocrosses to compete.

This coming year will be interesting - I think I'll be getting new race tire to replace my old worn out ones
