anyone wanna race ????

Manuels have their fun, but everytime I race a Supra, Viper
or Cobra and during the race, whenever they shift and I shift, I pull half a car or more......
so Id have to say it depends on what are doing with the car and how you drive it. Dont get me wrong, the 5 spd I owned had its perks.
...after 3 months it was sold. Not sure if Id do another one again. If I do Im going to be more involved in the conversion, and my friend who has a shop here in town is going to make everypart needed with a CNC machine. One thing I didnt like was the overall gear ratio. Made freeway driving more noisy and the loss of some top end bugged me.
If it just a second fun car, Id also think about doing another.
Its hard to compare honestly when I have the Soarer sitting in the garage

Rob,

I disagree with you about driver's not making a difference in drag racing an automatic tranny car.

It's all about timing the lights and keeping the car as straight as possible. It's true that shifting a manual tranny during a drag race is more of a driver test but driver's make split second differences in any race. If they didn't, we would have had radio controlled drag race cars by this time.

321go!

Whenever I feel the need to accelerate quickly, I click the power button and pull the shifter back to 3. It feels quicker than planting the pedal and letting the power mode engage automatically.

Why not try retrofitting a power button and see if that helps - I think it's a fairly simple mod.

Phil.

for the curious types:

http://www.bolink.com/kits4.html#npro

prices range from $75 to $190 for the car
-then you need engine, exhaust, servos, and radio for nitro.
-or radio, ESC, and servo for the electric.

Launching an svx with a slushbox is not point and shoot.

A properly matched stick would be faster though. I really hate wondering if the svx is gonna launch fast "this time" or not. I really despise the software engineer who burned the svx ECU and TCU. He/she should be flogged.
HA! I'm not alone. This is EXACTLY how my SVX feels. Sometimes it's fast... othertimes it's just pathetic.

I disagree with your disagreement. Whether or not you even 'go' at the right time is irrelevant. The best reaction time I got was a pathetic 1.2 (it seemed like hte auto was laggy), but that doesn't affect my E.T.... I recieved a 16.7, regardless of my reaction time, regardless of how I steered the car.

Manuals are not only more fun to drive, but they give you more gears, which allows you to be in the pwoerband more. = faster.

did you have it imported, or was it aleady here and then you bought it? i always liked them, not the watered-down SC300/400's. how much did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking?

my 928 was an auto, one of the fastest autos in the world at the time. it set a few land speed records for a stock production car at the Salt Flats.

Good thing the Soarer is an automatic instead of manual. Might be interesting to learn how to shift with your left hand--would be for me anyway.
