RX8 wheels - tire choices?

Hey guys, just got a ridiculous deal on a set of RX8 wheels. I plan on using them eventually because I love the look of them. They're one of the only 18" wheels I like on the SVX. I know most of you run 225 40 18 on your 18's, but are there other options that would work well? I'm sure 215 40 18 would work, but what about 215 45 18? 225 45 18 is stock, but I think they will be too big, plus they're heavy and hard enough on the transmission already. Anyone else have a size they like? Just trying to keep a lot of options in case a cheap used set comes up so I can test them out.

Heh, I have an RX8 and an SVX. It didn't occur to me that the RX8's wheels would fit on the SVX for a few years. Of course, the SVX sat in the garage, broken, for most of that time.

I have my SVX in a friend's barn over the winter. It's sitting on the RX8's stock wheels, actually. I agree with you - they look nice on the car. I used to think 18s looked silly on the SVX.

I have rx8 wheels on my svx running 215 45 18 and with gc/koni setup I only get a minor tub on one side, and its just the liner... I think it's a because the liner is loose. 225 35 18 are the best and were what was on my wheels when I got them, but they are around 200 per tire!

225/40/18's are more to keep the total diameter the same as stock wheel tire combo, speedo stays accurate.
Price per tire is also better then other combos.
If I had the money I would run 255/35/18's but I am unsure if rub would be a problem.

I'm running 225 40 18s on my RX8 wheels. You could also go with 235 40 18s which are the stock RX8 size. Anything smaller than that would be too small. Even the 225s are a bit narrow for the RX8 wheels, and the Michelin Pilot Sports that I'm running now are a bit stretched. I had Continental ContiSport Contact 2 tires before, and even though they were the same size, they seemed to fit a bit better. The ride with the Michelins is better, though.
