There is still the problem of HOW the cats got that way... Think about how logical it sounds that both cats went out at the same time??

I hope to get over to the dealer tomorrow to check out these cats and see just how bad they are.... I suspect they are recommending replacing both when it may not be totally necessary. How long should these things last. Afterall we're talking 14 years and 170,000 kms....

But if something did gum these things up what could it be... Any ideas...

Agree that if it is your precats--the weld in after market is the best way to go or buy a used functioning system.

+1, the Stebro system is only the mid-pipe and muffler, everything after the main cat. It won't help you.

The guy I spoke to at Stebro said he would make me the necessary parts to hook right up before the precats. Eliminate the precats and just go with their system right back using Stebro's single CAT Conv. Says it will have no problem passing Ont. E testing....

Just an update on my Cat(s) problem. Got the car back today from Subaru dealer, who had the 2 precats and main cat I purchased from Dayle at Motorsport, installed on the car. Only had a chance to drive it from the dealership to work (about 10 minutes on the hwy.) and the car feels and runs just like new. Will report back in a few days if anything changes but I expect that this will cure my power problems. I was without the car for close to a month (by the time I got the Cats and had them installed) and I tell you that you don't know how much you will miss your car until you are without it for an extended time...

Did you figure out what the cause of the cat failure was?

250$ Solution

E xact same issue years ago,I gutted the precats and purchase a main cat for a ford F 250,it has the 2 inlets correct size and a proper size outlet.Any good muffler shop may stock a good main cat,get anything bigger than stock.
