Quick paint question

My car's going to be getting s bunch of body work done over the summer, so a quick question about paint:

It's an Ebony Pearl. Sometimes, if I look closely, I can see a sparkly red layer in the black. It's most noticeable when the cars wet, and I look at the reflection of a light source.

Is this what the stock colour does, or has my car been repainted? I have very litte info on paint history for this car. It has always been black, CarFax has the "Vehicle colour noted as black" comment when it was first registered. There has been bodywork done to it. Shoddy rust repair mostly (slap a layer of bondo over the rust and paint it).

I'll be sticking with the stock Ebony Pearl colour for the repairs, but I want to avoid giving my car a two-tone black paint job.

Most WON'T!!! Tell them that 'boys and girls' are built different! If they don't know the difference, RUN AWAY!!!! They will try to shoot it black!
I had an 'issue' with the 'blue ribbon' bodyshop that did my Outback repairs. I had some damage inflicted by a$$hole$ with nothing else to do while I rested before going to work. I got my Outback back from the paint shop with 1 color on the bottom. Outback Limiteds have (2) colors on the bottom!

I have a right front fender that 'matches' the color of the top 3 inches of the stripe , all the way to the bottom!
I pointed it out to the guy at the shop. He never asked for the 'deductable'.

He knew that it would cost him more than that to fix it and that I KNEW the differance! Since I use the car every day, I figured that it was very likely that some OTHER a$$hole would bash it, so I told him to 'take it off of the NEXT repair' and that they should get it right then!

Yea, I paint cars. BUT, if I didn't wreck it, I ain't gonna put MY time into fixing it!! That's what I pay insurance for!

Im sorry..but a body shop that misses that color is 3/4 the way to wearing a helmet. trust the former colormatch guy.

While you're at the shop next time, ask 'em what kind of paint and clear they use.
