Pete, I don't mean to offend, but I do like to be specific. You mentioned that the light on the 'cruise' button comes on. But are you using the little paddle on the steering wheel to set your target speed?
Again, I just want to make sure. Welcome to the club.

Hmm..
It wasn't the vacume hose

maybe
boone- thats what i was thinking i took a look and there is a thin black hose snapped off right at the point where it meets with a black cylinder. is this what you are talking about? if so how much to replace it and is it easy enough to do myself?

Sure, you can replace most of the vacume hoses. If they are that brittle you will have more problems than cruise control. You just have to find out where they go.

the hose i found was broken near the firewall and it goes and connects to another piece of hardware but not visible, more underneath if you were to look under the hood straight at the engine

Confused.......Where?
I'm confused(no coments from the peanut gallery ). What part is the hose not connected to? Is the hose not connected to the little horizontal black cyclinder(little plastic tube sticks out a centimeter or two from the right side). Or is the hose not connected at the other end. The other end does not go through the firewall but through a 1.5 inch by 1.5 inch square hole below the left of the engine fuse box. If it is not connected to the black cylinder simply slip it back on There is no need to relpace it if it has slipped off. There is no clamp to hold it on so it just falls off sometimes.
B.C. P.S. If the hose has "snapped" off toward the cylinder end I would simply clip the rough end and see if it will still reach to be slipped back on. If you pop the hose out of the top guide clip(there are two lil clips that direct where the hose is going) you will have a good amount of extra hose to play with. |

If the plastic "nipple" has broken off, JB weld can be used to reattach.
