I think it maybe an acronym for Direct Injected Common Overhead Rail. It seems this is a rather large 4 cylinder diesel engine that uses electronically controlled fuel injectors which are aligned as two of whats stated by the three last words of the acronym. This is rather large amount of torque for how many cylinder it may have as well as it having 113hp max. But I think they overstated the technology they use a bit, since I think the cu contributes quite a bit as well.

I wonder how much torque that engine would exert after its paired with a twincharger?

That sucker's heavy...it's going in at almost 4500 lbs! It doesn't seem very throaty for a 3 litre though...

It is all about diesel, untill the late 90s automotive and light truck diesels had mechanical fuel injection that shot the fuel into a prechamber in the head that is linked to the cylinder. Acording to what I have read the reasons included the fact that it was quieter than injecting it directly into the combustion chamber and it provided a wider torque curve. Diesel is injected at much higher pressure than gasoline.
With the advent of computer controlls electronic injection became the standard starting in the late 90s so fuel could be controlled more precicely and multiple injection events could occour per cycle, this type of injection is at even higher pressure for better atomization and compensates for the louder noise and narrow torque curve with that controll, so you get better power and economy with reduced emitions, older diesels had individual fuel lines to each injector, I believe comonrail is set up similar to gasoline with a single fuel rail for each bank, although I havn't found what the advantage is other than simplifying the system with fewer parts. For anyone not familiar with diesel mechanix the fuel and air arn't mixed in the intake, they are mixed in the combustion chamber and the heat of the compressed gases (usually 18:1-22:1 compression VS arround 10:1 for gasoline) ignites them, so your fuel system must provide proper fuel controll as well as ignition timing.
