Day 2 on the engine swap in the xt6-help get the SVX back in the cave!
It still won't start. Got the old out and new in in maybe 8 hours but the timing seems to be an issue (the distributor was out at some point when the engine was pulled before I got it). Even pointing to the number 1 cylinder at both 180 from the crank it still won't go. Seems to be well off as only back farts come out. Compression should be fine as should spark. Any ideas.

Distributor? What's that?
So, you've done the remove #1 spark plug, turn the crank until you feel compression on #1, then turn the distributor to point to the #1 wire? The engine you pulled out of your XT started and ran fine? and you haven't touched anything other than to pull the engine? Ground and power cables all hooked up right? The harness back to the ECU is firmly connected? what exactly did you swap over from the existing engine to the one you dropped in? -Bill
