Arrow Complaint

My wife's complaint to me is that the rear view mirror in "her"
SVX is loose and falls down on every other bump in the road. If'n I don't tighten it up real soon, I had better learn how to cook. All my old mopars had 3 screws holding the mirror on. But the SVX..

I took out the map/spotlight/button do-maflotchy but I don't see how to get the bleepin' mirror off. Help! It's past breakfast-time

If I recall correctly, (I'll have to go look) but, there is a plastic cover on the shaft that holds the mirror. Pop off the plastic cover to get to the screws that release the mirror. Again, that's how I remember it, but, I'll go look later.

Randy, I tried removing the plastic cover up to the point I felt damage may occur. Thanks for looking. (I really need to spring for a set of the factory manuals)

Just a thought: You might want to tell her to stop using the rear view mirror to put on her makeup. Remind her that there is a mirror in the visior. hehe.

The last time i let a lady use the visor mirror, i needed to buy a new visor... Last time i let a lady drive my car, the rotors got warped...last time i let a lady.... I'm never letting a lady in the car again.

Yep, I tried the same thing and it's a tight fit. I didn't try real hard to get mine off either. I tried looking in the manual first, but, I couldn't find anything on the rearview. I'll take a little closer look before I go to bed tonight (hopefully very soon), and post in the morning.

Okay, I checked the manual. Sure 'nuf, I was correct, the first time (I was hoping I wasn't confusing it with another car). The light gray plastic is a "snap off" cover (the manual shows the "tech" snapping it off with his fingers! Yeah, right. Of course, it's only line-art. )

There are tabs on each side. I suppose if you could get something under one side, hook it, and pull out to release the tab from around the bracket, it'll come off. Once there, there are three screws to take out to release the mirror.

I ripped off a little hunk of hot water pipe insulation and a tie wrap, tightened it down and at least got her cooking. But this weekend I'll do it right. Thanks again aredub. U other guys:
I showed her your comments and she laughed out loud.
She's pretty cool.
