ECU operation in P and N

I am about a quarter of the way through the Memory Dump thread, searching for an explanation of the effects of grounding the N and P pins on the ECU. One would think that the engine would operate the same in either instance, but there must be a difference, otherwise why two pins. Maybe a rev limiter in P but not in N? Anyways, if anybody knows the difference, I would love to know what it is.

I am thinking that in my swap I will use the parking brake switch to ground the light green wire (P). This will (I believe) let me remove the key when the parking brake is pulled, meaning I will be forced to use the E-brake every time I park. I think this is a good habit with a 5 speed, plus it will keep my e-brake cable working often and lessen the chance of it seizing (I hate that).

Now for the neutral pin, I am undecided if I want to run it only to the lower clutch switch, or also use the in gear switch in the transmission wired in a way to ground the light green/yellow wire (N) when the transmission is NOT in gear. Any input or advice is appreciated.
