Hello, and I have a child.

I don't post on here very much any more, but some of you may remember me. I lurk some, but admittedly my interests have changed a lot in the past nine years. I still have my SVX, though it is driven very, very rarely. I'm considering selling it, but we'll see.

Anyway, on to the news of the day. Amber and I have a son! He was born on Saturday evening at 9PM, and was 9lbs, 8oz. and 22in long. He's a big kid. For a bunch of relatively minor reasons, he was kept in the NICU for about four days, and he was by far the biggest baby in there. Now he's home now and just perfect. Amber's doing great.

I have a gallery here that I've been updating:

Re: Hello, and I have a child.

So you got us some good news and some bad news eh?

Congrats, may God bless him and keep him in good health.

So sad to know you will be parting with your SVX. We are loosing more and more of the "Godfathers" of this forum.

Re: Hello, and I have a child.

Congrats Nick! Don't worry, a baby seat will fit in the back of the SVX. Just need to do some selective shopping when getting it. No need to get a breeder buggie just yet!

Re: Hello, and I have a child.

Thanks, everybody. It's been a fun week, and I know we're only just getting started. Thankfully, Amber's parents are here for the week and helping us out. They're fantastic.

As for the SVX, as I said, I'm only considering selling it. I haven't really decided. I suppose I'll say that until the minute I sign the title over to somebody else.

I used to drive beaters to keep the miles off the SVX. Now my beater, the RX-8, is arguably 'nicer.' Funny how that happens. I'd sell the SVX to buy a new 'beater' to keep the miles off the RX-8, but it would be very weird to trade something like an SVX for an old Legacy or Impreza. Hardly a step in the right direction.

Kia ora Nick,

I remember well when "Mr Pockets" used to pop up often. Special congratulations --- enjoy.

As for the SVX, be practical, four doors are now a prerequisite! Sell the damn thing without regrets. Let Amber enjoy the ease of loading a carry cot into a back seat. Been there several times.

Cheers, Trevor.

Re: Hello, and I have a child.

Oh, our new son has very little to do with the decision. My wife has an Outback, which is all the family car we hope to ever need. The RX-8 was my 'four door, four seat' compromise.

When you say you have "a child" Nick, it's probably safe to presume it's your first!

Congratulations to you and to Amber and the new baby boy!!

You don't come around for ages, and all of a sudden it's three of you!

Nice one.

Joe
