Just to update you as you would not know, Phil and Belha had their first baby last Saturday.

It's possible Phil may not see or respond to new posts for a while, he would have his hands full at the moment.

Joe

Great news, but short on detail. Boy or girl?

Ah, sorry Trevor, they have a little girl.

I don't know her name as yet, but her weight is about 3.5 kgs

Thanks Joe,

I see that you have realised the significance of posting this happy news within the technical section and have quite properly now included full specifications.

P.S. N.B. Spec. required by the other gender. --- Colour of her eyes ?

Wonderful, Trevor.

Dark. Ish....

Wonderful, Trevor.
Can't tell the eye colour from photo Trevor.

we are straying a little off topic, but in keeping with your technical analogy, we discussed baby's arrival time at the JAE Show. Belha said baby was due on 10th October, so I said, no I would think the baby will arrive on my birthday, 5th October instead. We had a laugh about it, but she duly arrived 6th October, a bit late for my prediction, but a bit early too!

Certainly wonderful.

OT no way. This IS Phil's thread and high tech stuff IS involved.
Take off your admin hat and throw it in the air.

You're right!

We will think of her as Phil's latest software bundle

She has to be in the technical section in that case.

Hopefully this will be interesting reading for guys that understand tuning stuff.

I haven't yet figured out the units, so the numbers are rather arbitrary. Note also that the X and Y axes are reversed on the knock graphs compared with the others. (It looked better that way).
Nice job you guys! Are the load units in your plots simply the decimal representation of the hex values? Kinda curious because the load range for the timing map appears to be wider than for the fuel map. Seems unusual.

When you get into reading the assy code, you'll probably find that load is measured from MAF/RPM (with some temperature scaling as well). Usually a load of 100 the maximum value on a NA car. There may be an extra column beyond 100 to be sure that all possible conditions are represented.

I saw the early threads on interpreting TPS values. For the Evo, TPS voltage = TPS signal *5/255.

I'm also guessing that the knock correction of 128 is 0x80 and represents zero correction with a possible range of 0 to 255.

In a way you guys have it easy in that the size of the code is relatively small. My Evo ROM has roughly 256 KB of code (including table data). The relatively small code size for the SVX should make it pretty easy to decipher.

I can't resist myself and have started commenting out the code flow in the ROM code. I'd like to comment the I/O addresses, RAM addresses, and ROM data, but its not so easy in the hex table format. Can someone repost the I/O, RAM memory addressing, and ROM data in 1-byte per line format?

My documentation is here:

http://www.calumsult.com/calumsu/disassembler/

Look in the SVX folder. You can make changes to the memory.txt file and let dis automatically add the comments for you as you uncover rom/ram addresses. To run dis you need to have .net and MS C# express (free from MS) installed on your machine, or I need to get off my butt and repackage it as a stand-alone.

If you use it and have problems getting it to run, questions, or comments, just post and I'll help.

Btw, once you start figuring out how the bits in rom work, I would start building a TunerPro xdf file. Tuner Pro is free, and really good for working with older ROM based ecus. You can see how I set it up for Nissans here:

http://www.sr20forum.com/realtime-ec...unerprort.html

Download the B13 xdf for a sample xdf file. I would actually start with that and just delete all but a handful of tables, then copy and change those as you add in the SVX tables.

First thing I want to do is decipher the I/O and RAM values. On the Evo, many of the diagnostic output values are not the exact values used by the ECU for controlling fuel/timing. After that, I want to find the idle stepper table(s) so I can fix the manual tranny idle issue. What might be most interesting is to see how well the stock ECU can be adapted to forced induction: Load would need to be rescaled, injector scaling and latency need to be found, MAF scaling needs to be found, knock control routine would need to be evaluated, would be nice to see if there is an extra output that could be used to control a solenoid (for boost control) and an extra input for a MAP sensor... Who knows how much of this I'll have time to do though in the near future... T-minus 2 weeks to baby girl. :-) The wifey had a few random strong contractions last night (seemed beyond the Braxton-Hicks variety), so it could be sooner than that.
