I think u just need, power, ground, illumination and tach signal.

Power -> anywhere - ignition?
Ground -> a nice metal screw in the body
Illumination -> I think red/black in driver kick, or hit up red/black behind the parking light switch that's attached to the knee bolster panel.
Tach Signal -> Hit up the ECU - solid Yellow wire

I was always under the impression that by having individual coils this method wouldn't work - maybe live & learn time for me. BTW, my diagram (but not a FSM) shows a couple of yellow wires at the ECU for the 92 model.

Subaru_Newbie: Why do you want an add-on tach, isn't the one in the dash working - did any SVXs come without a tach (I thought they all had one)?

the tach works fine i just want one eiasier to see with a nice bright shift light... i will check the yellow wire on ecu... will the voltage jump up when revved up... be easy to find with multimeter... oh and i got a/f gauge... which of the 3 wires from the o2 sensors in sensor signal wire?

Pin 16 in a 16 Pin Plug ....or Pin 64 ...depends on year

Right under the steering column (driver dash) you will see the TCU and ECU ...you can't miss it ....the ECU plugs (4?) are the easy ones in your reach ....those are where u can find ur wires.
