But my ballasts do look different from the ones posted above. I have no labels on mine other than a small serial number label. Mine look like the ones kpg posted pics of on page 2

Re: HID kits on the cheap.

I was surprised when i looked back in the thread and saw the picture of the kit.
Its the exact same one that i bought for my DSM earlier this year and paid 120.00 for.
So the credit card came out in a flash and i ordered another set for the SVX. should be here sometime next week. (the guy on the phone said they were out of balasts and restocking between now and the weekend.)

No regrets with buying from Tom here. I hope your replacement parts also ship the same day you call.

...so far, 0 for 1 above.

I'm no longer amused. I called today to follow up, and they still haven't sent a return shipping label. I told them they just need to send me a good bulb and sort it all out later, so they charged me for another bulb. At least they're close enough that if this doesn't work out I can take a day off work and go teach them a lesson about messing with an SVX owner. Is it just me, or is it bad for it to take over 3 weeks to replace a light bulb? While paying for 2 day shipping. So far I'm out almost as much $ as a set from Tom and my car still can't see far in the dark.

Re: HID kits on the cheap.

got mine in the other day. Got the 4500 35w bulbs

pretty much a plug and play. Previous owner of my SVX somehow damaged the light plugs so I didn't have to cut wires to get the polarity right.

did it in 15 mins in the dark.

asked my wife is she noticed a difference and she was like.. huh??
typical woman.

Course when she gets her hair done I seldom notice too...

Re: HID kits on the cheap.

Mine have been fantastic for a few weeks now, no faults or anything and their service with me was exceptionally quick. I purchased 6000k bulbs and they look just right. Not to mention, they're a hell of a lot brighter than my old bulbs without being a nuisance to other motorists. I noticed a dramatic change in my field of vision while driving at night with these.

The lenses were hazy and yellow. I took care of that and it did shine a lot brighter. We live in an urban area that is usually pretty well lit by street lights. There are very few places that are really dark to begin with. I noticed a better light distribution to the sides. The way that my beams are aimed, the area about 20 feet in front are bathed in white light. The HIDS also lit up reflective road signs at 150 yds or so. Overall I am really happy with them.

My wife is not that attentive to auto related stuff. Got forester struts and tires on my OBS and made it sit taller. Didn't notice. Replaced stock OBS seats w/WRX seats with the better support. Didn't notice. list goes on and on.

Angry Re: HID kits on the cheap.

One last big vent:

Just got off the phone with these jokers, and apparently they won't be shipping my replacement bulb until next Monday. They said on Friday of last week that it was already on the truck. At this point I'm out almost $120, and it will be over a month of fighting them before I get two working lights in my car. This is the biggest mistake I've ever made in purchasing from an online shop. They're more than happy to keep me strung along, charging me more each time I call, and I'm unsure that they'll ever make good on their deal.

Re: HID kits on the cheap.

Follow up question:

Would any other 9005/4500k bulb match the one I have in now? I'd spend the money to get a different bulb if it meant not dealing with these thieves anymore. Are the ballasts bulb specific, would color temp match, would I catch my car on fire when I turned them on? Thoughts? OT? Anyone?

Thanks,
-Kit W.
