How big of an emergency would need to be created to create a response so vast that it would include your ship??

Even if the ship were to take port, where would his car be? I can always make a scene and pick him up on a jetski

Coventry CommonWealth Games...

Well, I had a great autoX last Saturday and achieved my goal of placing around the 50th percentile in PAX (56th percentile to be exact) in this VERY competitive field. Only one person from my local SCCA club finished in the top 20 Pax times. Even the national A Mod champ George Bowland placed outside the top 10, as his son Todd Bowland captured FTD & FTP in their A Mod 'Shark'.

Top 20 PAX finishers were as follows:

AM 1 TODD BOWLAND 02 BBR SHARK RED/BLACK FTD 39.587 0.000 FTP 39.587 0.000

The senior D-Stock autoXer/instructor (Steve St.John) in my club finished 2nd in D-Stock (36th overall in PAX) and this was the first event where my best raw time was 2 seconds behind his time on my street tires (I'm on 225/45 RE070's and he's on 245/45 Kumho V710's).

P.S. I'll post a few pics later...

Congrats young chike. I'm not suprised how poorly the AM car did in pax. The Prepareds and Mods are simply paxed well beyond the reasonable speed through the course for most of the cars in the classes. I'm lucky if I crack the 40%. That just means I drove great and the course was in my favor.

On a side note. Our new tires arrived yesterday. I'm going to see if they'll fit before work this morning. THEY are gorgeous!

Thanks Ben! Actually AM driver Todd Bowland captured FTD & FTP - while his dad George finished 15th. The course was definitely quick and some people felt that the CM and AM cars were reaching at least 75mph in some places. Watching that Am car run in person was a thing of beauty - George and Todd really know how to drive it!

Congrats on the new rubber!

Fyi...

As of 12:30am on Mon July 31st, 77 people are registered. Entries close at 125...so if you're on the fence you may need to make a decision by mid August in order to secure a spot.

I'm kinda iffy at the moment as it looks like I'll have an SVX wedding to go to that day. Just don't know the time of the wedding yet.

Thumbs up Interesting day at the office...

Today, I competed in an autoX event with my local Blue Ridge SCCA club. Only a small group showed up (just 57 entrants) and there was no one else registered in D-Stock. As a result of this, I decided to run against some 'live' competition and moved up to STU (as I compete on RE070 tires).

I finished 2nd in class (56.052) ahead of an STU '06 WRX Wagon (57.342) but behind an experienced driver in an STU prepped '04 STi on coilovers - he ran the 7th fastest raw time of the day (53.188). I definitely saw why STU carries a more aggressive PAX index than D-Stock! I guess coilovers and -3 degrees of camber can really make the 'street' tires in this class stick!

Overall, I finished 29th out of 57 with my STU PAX index (would have placed 18th in PAX with my D-Stock index), and 36th out of 57 in Raw Time.

Here's a few pics from the day...

The winning STU prepped STI in action:

My WRX:

Super-stock Cayman S:

Tom's Evo MR:

All in all, I was feeling frustrated with my competition runs due to the very technical, extremely tight & narrow course. I talked to an experienced autoXer/instructor and current DSP title holder in 3 clubs in NC & VA (Tony Hodges) after the competition runs were over, and offered to let him drive my car for 3 'fun runs' (with me riding shotgun) to see what time he could run using my 'equipment'. His best time was achieved on the third run where he ran a 55.1. Tony then sent me out to do 2 'fun runs' of my own and I lowered my best time on the course to a 55.5 on my 2nd pass! All in all, that made me feel better knowing that in the same car, I could run within a 1/2 second of my autoX school instructor.

Anyway, the Subaru Challenge is roughly one month away and I'm doing everything in my power to work on the 'driver mod' before the event! Today's event was the 10th autoX I've done this season and my WRX is holding up to the abuse very well with no breakages and over 50% pad life left on my OE front brake pads (80%+ on the rears).

Chike,
Nice! Given my car and family issues this year, I think you probably have more "runs" than anyone other than Ben and Dave this season!
-Bill (starting to feel the pressure to get BillStock back in fighting form....then again, the 9" wide rims did show up this week )
