High powered??? 217 HP is not exactly high powered (though it does have a higher HP/weight ratio than the SVX)

In any case, in autocross, it is much more the skill of the driver than the power of the car.

What is "H Stock"? I am not familiar with that term.

And among those in the Porsche Club of America, it is definitely NOT just the "look" that the members I know are going for - it is the handling, speed, agility, craftsmanship, etc. I am constantly amazed at how few a**holes I have met in the club - much fewer than I meet generally.

It'll be far cheaper, easier to maintain and adjust and you'll actually learn to drive as opposed to learning how far to push the gas pedal. I'd still be in H Stock if the situation wasn't right to get the race car. I wasn't looking. Just bought it cause it was close, cheap and would've made a good parts car for me but when I got it home and started to look at it closer realize that it would be a waste to let a solid car with a decent engine die.

Oh trust me, I am envious of porsche owners because of how the cars perform. I do not like the fact that most owners will never take the car out to these standards. I am not such a fan of the stereotyoe that comes along with ownership(rich snotnosed Ba$98rd). i do understand this is not always the case with the owners having known many to prove this false.

Tom - Don't get me wrong - I have also run into owners who are snobby a**holes - just not among those who are members of the club. Club members tend to be enthusiasts who love the cars. And they run the gamut from the extremely wealthy (one owns about 20 cars including Jags, Ferraris amd about 15 Porsches, others have 911 turbos that are stripped and used only as track cars) to those who have 15 year old (or older) cars that they drive daily and take to the track and watch their pennies in order to be able to participate in events. Nne look "down their noses" at any of the others.

And, by the way, you have seen my Boxster down on LBI last year.

Gary

I know. I remember meeting you and seeing your boxter. I wasn't sayin all owners are like that, just the stereotype that most people think of when they think of Porsche owners is not one I would want to be assumed as. I know there are good owners and bad but generalizations still hold presidence. I can appreciate cars on a higher level than your "typical" P owner. I say "typical" becasue most owners have no idea what they are driving except a lot of money

217 hp going to the rear wheels now a days is a high hp car. Of course it is skill but a good driver needs a good car to be competative nationally to.

H stock is the lowest of the low as far as classes.

I didn't say every owner lacks the skills to handle the car but IMO the "better" the car as far as power, handling etc the worse the drivers at autoxs tend to be. It is just more difficult to handle such a beast right on a course.

it's a little too soon for that yet as i don't even know what the money situation will be then. i work in the auto industry and when they slow down so do I and it's pretty unpredictable. things look to be getting slow right now again

Exclamation An Important Heads-up!...

Time is getting short. As of this Sunday morning it seems that we have 36 members committed to attending Reading VII

Currently on the Date poll only 12 members have voted, and on the Hotel Preference poll there are only 10 votes.

So in order to get a some sort of fire lit under the rest of you, the voting on both of these polls will continue until Tuesday, November 1 2005. I will then call the hotel with the most votes and ask for a block of rooms for the dates with the most votes and get rates from there.

Currently it seems that the preferences are for Reading VII to be held on Friday-Sunday, April 21, 22, 23, 2006 at the Morgantown Holiday Inn
