My alternator set-up

Here is a pic of my set-up:

Two main jobs to do; install water injection, and shift the alternator to below the engine, so the aircon can be put back in place and start pumping coolnesssssss

It still has part of the SVX in the picture.

How do you find driving the 4.44, compared to standard? Is the acceleration stronger? Are the revs high when traveling long distance? Is it more noisy?

Above all, are you happy the change was worth the trouble and the money?

[I'm thinking of changing mine, and I'm on the fence as to whether 4.11 or 4.44 is the way to go]

Joe

Yeah I noticed that too. The car does look clunky. Anyway, I'm getting used to the high RPMS. The gas mileage is about the same. The acceleration is much stronger and the SVX is a whole different car now. It doesn't feel as heavy any more...I feel like I can actually kick it without killing the trans and/or front diff. Overall....I'm happy. Money well spent....I'm sure Tom thinks so too.

Back on topic...

Pretty sweet setup... I had no idea you were going the supercharged route. Very nice!

After the svx was repaired. This is also before the clear corners and rims were installed.

Thanks Rebecca.

The 4.44 is probably the best option for the NA engine. It could be that with the extra torque from the supercharger install, the 4.11 might be powerful enough and relaxed enough for general use.
Thanks for the heads-up.

You bad, bad people, putting DNA all over John's car!!

Thanks Tim

It works really well. I bought the intake and M112 blower complete from Graham [F1 SVX] who designed it. Graham is going a different route with his pearlie now, he is doing an engine rebuild and going for high horsepower. Work starts very soon on that, this week actually.

I have a rebuilt engine in the pipeline also, as I was planning to drop CR to 8.5 using matched machined pistons. At the moment that is back burner stuff, Graham's big power rebuild takes precedence. I'm not bothered as the above is working sweet.

Perhaps more urgent in a way would be a "tough" gearbox, a la Level 10. I'm not a fan of manuals, so I want the 4EAT to do the business. I have a number of spare gearboxes in varying states of repair, but I'm gradually leaning to getting a 4.11 setup from a Legacy Turbo, and beefing up the clutches. With all mods in place I'm planning on 320-340 hp, and I expect the 4EAT to manage that without meltdown. I won't be hammering it, so it should last a while.

Joe

I'm sure you are 100% right about that!

I'll bet anyone entering that vehicle would have to take off all rings or sharp objects, and empty their minds of any bad thoughts!

Red car looks really nice Eric, a pity we never got that beige upholstery over here.

Joe

Well, it's a pity we never got that black upholstery over here...(Lemme know if you ever wanna trade...the only thing you'll need to do is dye the dash and order custom floormats)

Also..I thought that supercharger setup looked awefully familliar. You made mention earlier that one of your jdm cars was getting a supercharged engine, but I had imagined you ordered one of lan's kits

Thought I'd join in and share a few pics...

Well I guess I'll share of few pics of my car too. I hope the pictures actually show up. I used imageshack, but I'm not sure if I did it right. Heres a pic of my car right after I bought it 4 years ago.
