Brand new SVX owner here, and this site save my a$$ when it came to a MAF problem! Gonna use one of these engines in one of my Porsche 914's in the future (wicked fast), but love this car just the way it is!

Hello to you all.
My name's Denis (which kinda explains my nickname also: 2=deux=two=zwei ) and I'm French ( ) but, I do live in Luxembourg since a few years.

I just baught (yesterday in fact) a US spec '92 SVX and i have to say that I love it so far... I have the car on my mind since last December when I first saw it at my friend's garage... And now it's done for good! I'm the new and only second owner can you imagine that? The car has been maintained at my friend's garage (he's a Subaru dealer) since 14 years now and that way I have (almost) a full history coverage... Has been baught new in the States and taken over there by the owner when he moved. Car's covered 144000 miles so far and runs like the first day. Second gearbox (upgraded model now). Interior looks like new (unbelievable really!!! ) but is fitted whith that ugly wood finish. I have to get rid of this it stinks, lol.

So, what more can I say??? That I'm not really new to Subaru driving like I've owned 2 Impreza GT's (the ones you didn't have, turbo models) a '97 sedan 555 model & a '99 wagon that I both modified a lot (you Americans say PIMPED right??? ). Between then & now I had mainly a BMW 330d Schnitzer & an M3 EVO.

Voilą!!!

Here are some pics of the day I've test-drived it (yes, I'll took off those ugly stickers ASAP & don't worry about the license plate it has been changed now):

Njoy!

Very pretty indeed!

Plus, I think, you are probably our first member in Luxembourg, not forgetting that you are French, of course.

Those are very good photos as well, the red mica sheen even comes across.

You're very welcome Denis, nice pics, nice car.

Joe

Yes, thanx for the warm welcome.

Of what I know of, there are 3 SVX's now in the country: mine, the white one that the previous owner just baught (very nice with black top) & I've heard of a green one with very low mileage...

I am Hiram Mclaughlin of Pittsburgh. I bought my 92 SVX about six months ago, his name is Dante and we hope he is around for a long time. I have always wanted an SVX since I first saw one in 91, I have owned many Subes but this one stands out above them all.

Woo hoo! Another SVX in da Burgh!

Tom (svxfiles) and I are from the Pgh. area originally. We still have family there and visit several times a year. When we do, we usually try to schedule a stop at Jose & Tony's, a Mexican restaurant in Dormont. See the Pgh Freezeyerassoffandeatmexicanfood Meet thread. Feel free to join us for a mini-meet the next time we visit!

And welcome to the site!

Nice. I grew up in pittsburgh, west mifflin/baldwin specifically, moved back and forth from there to PA, as my father worked in philadelphia area, and my family which we had close ties to. Go Kennywood! and the Phantoms Revenge!

new member

Hi,
I am a new member. I have joined in order to prepare myself for purchasing an SVX, but I want to find out more about them before I do. I have admired the style of the SVX since they first appeared in '92. This site has been very helpful so far. One un-answered question I have is about the timing belt. How often should it be replaced and if it breaks is the engine ruined? Most of the cars for sale have >100K and I suspect the original timing belts are still in them.
I'm in warm and sunny Everett Washington and look forward to much lurking on this site.

Chip.

Hi Chip

It sounds nice in Everett Washington.

Welcome.

The recommended interval for replacing the cam belt is 45K miles or 3 years, and you are correct, sometimes they do not get replaced because of the cost of the job.

The good news is the 3.3 L engine is non-interference. If the belt breaks, the valves do not, can not, hit the pistons, so it is just a matter of fitting a belt and timing the engine. No rebuilt engine.

Joe

Hello, Just picked up a 1992 SVX LS-L in Liquid Silver. Fell in love with the car and after doing a ton of research decided to buy. Shes got 135k but is clean overall. Been Lurking for a couple of days, so I'm new to this forum but I was a regular at Turbobricks back when I had a Turbo Volvo.

We would like to hear what ideas you have for boosting this car. Electric boosters have been discussed and we determine they use too much power for very little if any gains. Your F-15 technology might be a little more efficient.
We can hope at least.[QUOTE]

Ok well the basic idea/design Phase is done, doing some research and then i will work on Virtual Reality design in solid works, and test it first before i actually build it.
Donations for the prototype will not be denied.
