Sounds good.

This time if I go (Still on definite maybe status--as I really haven't brought it up with my wife yet ) I don't want to end up in a different hotel completely on the other side of the city, I'd like to stay w/everyone else, and of course hang out at the "Bah"

Each room had 2 queen beds and they didn't care how many were in each room.

All reservations were made directly with the Hotel, with reference to the SVX CLUB. The rooms were reserved for Friday, April 6, Saturday, April 7 and Sunday, April 8. Any of the rooms in this block not reserved by March 10th were released. (If you happened to make reservations after this date they will still honor the club rate IF rooms were still available.)

As Reading III gets closer I can contact the Holiday Inn again with the particular requirements, get rates, etc.
John,
Although I would hate to leave the "original" site, we may shift the site to the "DENVER" Holiday Inn, as per Larry III's recommendation. It is supposedly closer to our Covered Bridge Tour route. Again, since I'd have to drive 14-15 hours to check it out, I'll have to depend on others. Of course, If the rate's cheaper, I'M ALL OVER IT!!!

I don't think I will be staying at the hotel. I will get to the hotel around 10 in the morning and then stay with everybody all day. And come back at night. I am doing that becuase I am very close to PA.
John, are you gonna stay up there or you will also drive up there on saturday morning??

La Costra Nostra SVX - Our SVX House

Yo !!

This here is BIG BRUNO !!! I''m Lorenzo's unofficial uncle. I look out for him, if youse know what I mean. Youse guys are ok in my book. I drove Larry's car and it was a blast. The guys in the Brooklyn chapter of our club (The Mothers And Fathers Italian Association) and my girlfriend Delores really like it. I would get one except for two reasons. First, I'm a big guy and the car is just too small for me. It's hard for me to get in and out of it. Second, the SVX is just too easy to spot and remember. It's too recognizable, if youse get my drift. That's not good in my profession. Maybe I'll get a black one for Delores. We got some very good transmission shops here in Brooklyn. So that 's not a problem.

Maybe we'se can help with the Reading meet. Would youse guys let some black Caddy, Buick, or Pontiac sedans drive around with you? One of our guys has that Caddy STS. He thinks he's Mario Andretti. Yeah, right. The only speed he shows is when some one hands him lasagna. Youse oughta see him wolf it down.

I gotta run now. Nice talking to all of youse.

BIG BRUNO

Re: La Cosa Nostra SVX - Our SVX House

Hi Gang,

Maybe my uncle Bruno is right. Let me explain.

We have always looked at the SVX and ourselves as kind of the black sheep (prodigal son) of the Subaru family of cars & owners. About 3-4 years ago when I started on the KC and Yahoo sites this was true. Now we are a much stronger group. We have solved tech problems, held meets, heck, we even got this site stared and running.

Maybe it's time to reintergrate ourselves back into the Subaru family. It will be no easy task. We will always be their "Edsel".

As a first step, and in line with that thinking, maybe we should open up Reading III to Impezas, Legacys, Loyals WRXes, Outbacks Forresters, Brats, etc. Remember the "Dork in the Legacy" at Reading I. There are clubs for these cars too. Most of those that show up (if we do this ) will be just like us - car enthusiasts. When they see the SVX they may want to step up to one. The more people wanting SVXes the more Subaru will listen.

Maybe it's too early to be thinking along these lines. Eventually, however, we will need to do this.

These are just some of my personal thoughts on a subject that may engender strong emotion in some of you.

Think about it and discuss it.

Larry III
PS: This subject matter should make this the longest thread here.

You're trying to provoke me, aren't you? You already know how I feel about this.

I don't wanna be a snob, but, Reading is for SVXes. I don't mind hanging out with other Subaru owners (though I'm not really a Subaru fan, I'm an SVX fan), but, if I wanna go to a "Subaru" meet, I'll join SCOA and get their newsletter and join in their sanctioned events.

Now, if Uncle Bruno wants to bring "some of da boys" and clear out some of those "mattress totin' pickups" from the PA countryside, I'm all for it. But, breaking up a seamless line of SVXes with boxy vehicles just doesn't appeal to me. If Reading turns into an "all Subaru" meet, I won't be there.

Just my personal opinion.

YIKES, MIKE! I certainly don't want that to happen! Your comment still rings in my ears from Reading II: "I'm in heaven." I know how you feel. Looking forward to seeing you there -- along with all others who will come -- OKAY -- the 25 car record may be shattered! WHO ELSE!?!?!? C'mon -- don't be shy! (Reading III, April 5, 7 & 7 -- Morgantown PA Holiday Inn, BE THERE! )

MORGANTOWN HOLIDAY INN: Still lodging of choice?

I received a call from the Morgantown Holiday Inn asking if we were going to have another Reading Meet this year. The woman at the Holiday Inn was very nice and said they would like to have us back.

There was talk in this thread of moving the location of the meet to another location to make the covered bridge tour more accessible. Is this still a possibility?

If Morgantown is still the lodging of choice I will contact them at a later date when we have a more accurate count of the number of rooms reqiured ( If the list dets much longer we may be renting the whole damn place!)
