You are right.

The CD that I listen to has the Count on track 7 and Brubeck (Take Five) on track 2. It is called Jazz Greats (#ANR13230).
It is a compilation CD of some of the greatest jazz artists. It also has Louis Armstrong, Pete Fountain, Erroll Garner, Ella, Ramsey Lewis, Al Hirt, Benny Goodman & Duke Ellington.

Absolutely! I was very fortunate to grow up in a house that listened to all types of music. Jazz has/will always hold a special place in my musical tastes!

I've got Koko Taylor's "Royal Blue" playing on my G4 as I type this...

Now, if I can only get the multi-disk player hooked up in my SVX....

I got some Miles...I got some Monk
I got some Coltrane when I'm in a funk.

oooo, i LOVE jazz. I actually play it (i play alto sax). everything from Charlie Parker, to Count Basie (actually saw them live... well, what is now the Count Basie orchestra). any of you guys play too?? i got this cd that is pretty amazing its "The Only Big Band CD You'll Ever Need" ... title says it all

Not me. I played trumpet in high school and college but that was years ago.

The only "playing" I do now, is pressing a button that says "Play"!

I bough the new Luther Vandross album recently. This morning while driving into work is the first time I listened to it. Some of the melodies are hip-hop & rap inspired and some are smooth jazz. All of the lyrics are very thoughtful & poignant. The song about wanting to dance with his father brought tears to my eyes.
I suggest to anyone whose dad has passed on to listen to this song.
