There's another member in Jacksonville, djsiva, (real name Nate), who flew svxfiles and me down for a tranny swap in February. It's nice to have network members who are "neighbors"!

Hi All,

I posted in the SoCal regional, looking for a mechanic or someone that could check a potential SVX for me.

Got no response last i checked

Anyway, found an Independent Soobie shop, so am having the owner make an appt....if all goes well, I'll fly to SoCal to pick up a Teal 1996 with 105K miles and drive it back (or maybe transport it if I can find some company not charging $700 !!).

will be my first SVX, but not my first Soobie. Of course my only hesitation is the cost of maintenance and potential tranny issues.

<update> bummer, the Soob mechanic said quite a bit of work was needed....timing belt, seals, water pump, bad brakes, 2 tires, possibly rack/pinion (was so messay down there he would have had to have the area cleaned so he could see the leaks), noisy p/s pump, tranny fluid never changed, etc...some melted pieces from SoCal sun in interior. Oh well...</update>

Jeff

dunlopSXX, welcome.
Nomad is a member here from Sorel-Tracy. Is that near you?

And also a welcome to Jeff. Hopefully, with a '96 most of the tranny problems were addressed. I am sure it will treat you well.

New to the group - used to have an XT6 which got rear ended. Now I'm picking up a replacement in the form of an SVX in a couple of weeks.

Classic SVX
Hello

Hello!
Just bought a SVX 2 days ago, I have admired them for a few years and finally bought one, and when searching for svx information online I ran across this forum. So thought I would say hello, I will probably be on here often.

WELCOME!! I think you will find you will very much enjoy this site - the people, the info, everything about it. We have become a family of sorts. Some are a bit disfunctional , but what the heck, just like a real family!

But seriously, welcome to the "family". Don't be afraid to post, ask question and get to know the folks here (around the world even!!). You won't regret it.

Harry
