you can't..... at least not yet. PWR needs to make another production run of these first. They will be modified as to cancell out any clearance issues.

Cindy, I had thought there was still one or two they had in stock. (Pre-orders that had backed out.)

Anyway, mine is installed and is great. All the info in this thread should give whoever installs yours enough to do it fine.

As for the tranny cooler. I'm from the midwest, (belts AND suspenders school of thought here) So an aftermarket cooler may be cheap insurance.

If you search the threads, you'll come across an aux cooler that people have mounted in the drivers side fender well with a dedicated fan.

If I ever have to replace mine, thats what I'm going to replace it with.

Welcome, and hope this helps.

Jonathan

Radiator Availability

Cindy, You'd be best off contacting PWR directly for availability. http://www.pwr-performance.com/contact.htm

From all the previous complaining from purchasers I'm surprised no-one has offered to sell you one of their "defective" ones!

Yesterday I really tested the cooling ability's of the PWR Tran cooler. I was at the tri-state meet and we when on the normal group drive of around 45 minutes of harder then normal driving.

Last year my trany temp peaked out at round 220 F this was with a 16,000 GVW cooler and the stock cooler. The temp out side was about 65 F to 70 F

This year my trany temp peaked out at round 170 F with only the pwr cooler.
The temp out side was only about 42 F

I all so got the new cap from PWR, but I can't use it. It hits my CF hood so bad that I can't close the hood. So I'm just using the cap that came with the radiator.

Thumbs up Good Info AFBeefcake

Thanks AFBeefcake, good numbers there. I consider this comparison quite close enough to be considered proof of the ability of this PWR rad to keep the tranny cool but no too cool. This is my reasoning for that statement.

1st year tt=220 say 70 amb. t btw tt=tranny temp
2nd year tt=170 say 40 amb. t

amb. temp difference -30 degrees yet tt is -50 degrees thats a 20 degree cooler tranny temp.... this represents a minimum benificial temp reduction of 20 degrees over stock rad AND aftermarket cooler. May not sound like alot but it may just save a tranny, or provide an extra few 10's of thousands of miles of life. I suspect it may provide as much as 50 degrees of extra cooling however... AFBeefcake, do you have a 170 degree thermostat? It may be that tranny fluid temps never exceed 170 unless engine coolent does as well.
Makes one wonder what tranny fluid temp is as it enters PWR's rad.... I would expect your temp gage is on the downstream side of the radiator though... Still the PWR rad seems to perform quite well in any case.

Anyhoo, just my two cents worth of thoughts. I have been skeptical of PWR's claims up to now. But, no more. I got my cap a couple of days ago, and will be installing PWR's rad in a couple of weeks.

Thanks again for your temp mesurements AFBeefcake.

Sorry to hear about your cap hitting your carbon fiber hood though, a shame about that.

John
