Re: Memory dump of ECU

If you enter 45001700 in the hex com tool then look at the data that comes back 0017xx. Convert the xx from hex to decimal. Verify that it matches the value from the select monitor at cold, warm, and hot. If not we need to work out the conversion factor. If you flick back to page 45 in the thread you can see a screenshot of a program I wrote to read info from the TCU. The newest version includes the trans temp and some other stuff. Is it possible to send command 45 instead of 78 with Evoscan? That would be cool.

Re: Memory dump of ECU
I am not sure of that. Honestly wouldn't know where to look to find out.... Not to mention... I don't have an auto

Re: Memory dump of ECU
I've just finished giving my website a large overhaul to reflect our latest knowledge. The downside of this is that some of the links and images further back in the thread will no longer work.

Re: Memory dump of ECU
This document describes how to build a cable that will allow a Select Monitor and a PC to be connected to the car at the same time. The PC can eavesdrop on the conversation between the SSM and the Car. In this way we can build up a definitive list of the ECU parameters.
Tom has kindly volunteered to give it a go when he gets time. Phil.

Re: Memory dump of ECU
I should be able to get the info for OBDII ECUs as well if it can use the process.

Re: Memory dump of ECU
Cool. I wonder if Evoscan works on the OBD2 ECUs.
Even for OBD1, it would be a huge step forward to know that we are using the right parameters for the data logging.

Re: Memory dump of ECU
surely. The evoscan cable has two plugs... The OBDII diagnostic plug and the SSMI plug spliced in.

Re: Memory dump of ECU
I believe you only had 2 or 3 parameters wrong when you posted them way back when.
If I may suggest--what you should be working on is identifying the routine that calculates the learned ignition advance correction and where it stores the learned values. This feature of the SVX ECU makes it unecessary to have fancy memory devices which can be rewritten while the vehicle is running in order to do auto tuning. All you have to do is let the ecu do the auto tuning and then pull the learned values to use to correct your ignition advance tables. This is 99.9% of the tuning that is within the abilities of 99.9% of end users. |

I see what you mean about letting the ECU do the tuning itself. Ingenious. I would never have thought of that. I will spend some time looking in to it.

I think that might work with the OBD2 SVXes, but probably not the OBD1s. If somebody started investigating the OBD2 ECU, it would probably open the door to some tuning solutions. The work being done on early OBD2 Impreza ECUs will surely be relevant.
