Re: Re: Re: Re: news to me

The awd drivetrain and the 4EAT drain a lot of power from our engines.

As a 'general' rule of thumb, a rwd auto car losses about 20% of its power to the wheels, while a rwd manual loses about 15% to the wheels. A manual awd car would also lose ~20% to the wheels. When you pair up an auto trans with awd, power losses are at their worst, probably in the 25%+ range.

-Chike

P.S. Bill's (SVXRide) almost stock '92 made ~160hp at the wheels on his dyno run. Since our cars make a claimed 230hp, that's approx a 30% power loss to the wheels, which is consistent with what 4EAT WRX's put down.

I haven't even gotten one yet, but I will as soon as they're available for the OBDII cars, but I seriously doubt the Mobil 1 I use in my car will provide me with the same benefits as the ECUTune Stage 1 chip.

Im not doubting you, nor him but how can you say
its worth it if you havent tried it ?
My next question is to Longass, do you offer any sort'
of 30 day moneyback garauntee ?

Significant Technical Input
Yes, the 30% # is about right. That's based on results of dyno measurements of stock vehicles. Different dyno's will show different results too. Dynapack #'s are typically lower than dynojet #'s. At mastro a very well tuned wrx, that's a manual car that is rated at 227 hp from the factory, scores 170 hp at the wheels. That's a 25% loss working off of the factory #'s which is being very conservative considering mastro is an ecutech dealer and should be getting some good gains in their tuning. Our test vehicle without the chip scored 164.87 and it's certainly putting out at least the factory rated 230 hp. If you work off of the factory hp that's a 28.4% loss through the drivetrain. I'd wager the car actually puts out more in the realm of 240 hp due to the k&n and exhaust. If that's right the drivetrain loss is morre like 32%. Supposedly your % loss also increases as output increases but there's no real way to calculate that. In fact calculating crank hp from wheel hp is sketchy in itself. It's just a guestimate. The important thing is power at the wheels.

Dayle, yes the approx 400 hp at the crank is with the nitrous oxide which is 281.6 hp at the wheels. That's not with the same chip as stage 1 mind you. The software on the stage II chip is tuned specifically for the nitrous oxide kit and the jets which we include with the chip. The real gains for the stage I chip are not in peak hp. There is only a small gain in peak hp, something like 4 or 5 hp. There is however a significant gain in lower rpm hp especially when the knock retard kicks in on a factory tuned car. At 2000 rpms a factory svx is putting out around 82 hp, a stage I svx is putting out around 112. The stage I chip makes the car much more responsive and gets rid of the intermittent bad "lag" caused by ignition retard caused by an overly lean combustion mixture. Just ask anyone who's got our chip. Do a search and see the reviews. We not only have 100% customer satisfaction our customers are all 100% amazed with the 100% improvement in their car's character.

From Longass's dyno results that he posted on the site, reviews of people I trust who've purchased his product and the ability to run 87 octane safely which will save us money at the pump if gas prices ever sky-rocket again.

Question

Auction will either be in late August or early-to-mid September. Still no word as to the exact date though.

Unhappy

Who did you hear that from? I think that is a terrible idea because the city of Whitefish could make a lot more money if they had a conventional auction (with an auctioneer). How lame. Please tell me your joking Dayle .
