Re: Gas pressure drop between Tranny Shifts

Well traction control stops all the wheel spin, I don't think this is the same, as long as both wheels spin the same it won't do anything, as the readings would be the same, but it would stop one wheel from spinning. It is the back and forth spinning between the front wheels that breaks the gears, it would read this difference in speed sensor readings, to do a torque cut. Harvey.

Re: Gas pressure drop between Tranny Shifts
Guys, thanks a lot for all the help, I don't think I could have kept the svx in the garage as long as I have if it hadn't been for the experienced individuals on this forum! Thanks again nifty and oab!

Re: Gas pressure drop between Tranny Shifts
Hmmm.... random sensor that does nothing, but if the wires aren't connected to it, it causes transmission codes and shifting problems... Subaru, you shouldn't have!

Re: Gas pressure drop between Tranny Shifts
What makes you think it was a sensor that goes to the back of the transmission? The main harness goes in above the valve body and in a FWD unit there are no sensors or electric parts of any kind that are not on the valve body. If you told us the color of the wire you repaired I can tell you exactly what it connects to inside the transmission. The only sensor in the thing is the fluid temp sensor.

If it was offered on the Legacy, it doesn't make sense that they did not offer it on the EG33. Harvey.

Re: Gas pressure drop between Tranny Shifts
It was the standard power reduction/brake applying routine that is common now. The ECU cut power to the engine and/or ABS was used to apply brakes to a slipping wheel. I have never seen one that has it in person, but I know that they exist. I have seen the launch materials for the 1995 legacy that talk about it.

Re: Gas pressure drop between Tranny Shifts
Yes all subarus did, but keep in mind it was only on the front wheel drive models. 4 channel ABS means that it has 4 fluid circuits to control each wheel independently, while 3 channel controls the rears as a set. As with most manufacturers, subaru has never had an ABS system that didn't have a sensor at each wheel.
I think we kinda hijacked this thread

This is the Aust VTD, but I do belive that the 2WD has a VSS2 sensor mounted in the same position. Harvey.

Re: Gas pressure drop between Tranny Shifts
I also noticed that all the boxes have the mounting holes for this speed sensor to mount here. May be a carry on from the early FWD.
Harvey.

Re: Gas pressure drop between Tranny Shifts
I am going to crawl around under both my cars today to exchange o2 sensors. I will get those wire colors for yall then. I should be able to find it by the "clean newness" it should exude!
As an unrelated question... I have an o2 sensor #2 code, should I swap just that one with my parts car, or replace them as a matched pair? The parts car has no codes, so they should be in proper working order.
