Darn, I thought I would be able to use my BFH again. I don't get to use it very often.

Hey Earl, which is your favorite of the SVX's? I'm looking at getting another, maybe a '93, and just thought i'd ask the SVX monger his preference.

I think the two favorites are the two 94s that I have. The Laguna Blue and the Barcelona Red.

So the holdup is the filler neck? They welded the filler neck on in Australia, then brought them to CA?

Now in CA, they are cutting the necks off, shaving off a qtr inch, and then re-tig welding them back on?

I'm no welder, but I've had a little university level physics here and there. Where is the weakest point after welding? And if 2 closely adjacent welds are accomplished, at what exponent does this weaken the metal between the two welds proportional to distance between the welds?

Oh Steve... Please... Tell me you are kidding!! Is it the necks?

Chris, are you saying that in addition to the removal of 1/4" from the filler neck a ball peen hammer must be used to hammer a dent in the underside of the hood to prevent the Rad cap from comming in contact with the hood?

That is to say that once I get this drop-in replacement I have to take a BFH to my car?

Say it aint't so....

John
We'll be the only SVX group in the world with "radiator scoops" on our hoods.

OK, I just read a previous post from Chris, that they are leaving the filler necks unwelded coming into the states. If they are too long, lets hope they did that.

No, I have the prototype test fit radiator. The 1/4 inch filler neck mod is being done to the REST of the radiators. Mine is unmodified. I do not have the equipment nor the skill to weld aluminum (or the luck to do so in such a beautiful way) and thus my clearance was comprised of some other methods.

Thanx Chris

Thanks for the clarification Chris, my rad like the other components on my SVX is in fine working order. So, I am in no hurry to replace my rad since it is winter and too much heat is not a problem.

I look forward to hearing about the ease of install and excellent fit of these custom rads. As well as how they function for us in the varied environments we all live in.

Thanks again,

John

I just called and spoke to Maria. She said some of the radiators should ship out today. She doesn't know which orders.

Doesn't matter in my case. My 94 appears to be electrically damaged beyond repair. I'll probably just frame the radiator and hang it on a wall.

I am also looking at one of these radiators... I would love to see a pic of one and check out the quality... What is the price again for just the radiator and no tranny cooler?

The charge for this radiator showed up today as "pending", on my Mastercard bill.

I hope that they can ship it soon.
