And the second half of that is... what can I do with myself to make more money, and yet somehow get more time and energy to actually get out to the garage more than I do now. Even your plans for yourself rotate around how to make your SVX plans work... -When "I want to do that to my current car..." becomes "I want another car to do that to, so that I can keep driving this one in the mean time, and as a parts source later." -When you actually consider selling your newer, technically faster 2005 Legacy GT, to pick up another, pristine SVX, and a slogger Forester or Outback, or whatever... as a backup for the daily SVX, and to keep the pristine SVX pristine and ready for special occasions. -When you wish that the products Subaru just released would even attempt to hold a candle to a product that Subaru released almost 20 years ago, but the new products don't.

Re: You know you're an SVX owner when...
you know your a SVX owner when
- the only books next to your bed are the Subaru SVX repair manuals - and the Parts Manual is on top and........ you know them both inside & out - you take up religion just to pray for FHI to make a newer SVX [B11s was a close contender....] |

As much as it is funny, wondering why the "dog" got to have the best nickname of all?

1993 GT, bought used when my Mustang barfed it's AOD transmission a second time. I actually quite liked that car, aside from the front-wheel-drive, which was a fly in that ointment. The interior was nice, and straightforward, the car ran well, and cruised quietly. It was also my first car with a stick. I knew how to drive one before that, but it was the first car that I owned and drove every day with one. the hatchback was fantastic. for a college student who periodically had to pack everything I owned into a car, it sure did fit a good amount of stuff, fairly easily with the rear seats folded down. Honestly that is the only fly in SVX's ointment, is that it isn't a liftback. I owned a Ranger 4x4 pickup between the Probe GT and my current Legacy GT... Yeah, not really going back to 4WD transfer case trucks, after driving real AWD. I am not an off-roader, and on-road Subaru's AWD is much more civilized, and probably a bit more capable, with limited slip diffs and snow tires, as long as I am not hopping curbs, and driving through ditches, farm fields, or whatever... which I don't really do. So, an AWD car is just fine for me. I didn't even use the pickup bed that often, which is why I wasn't so sad to see the truck go, once the Legacy arrived. It did suck having to haul a lawn mower in the trunk of the car, though. My Legacy GT is like a 4-door version of my old Probe GT, on steroids. Incrementally better in every department, except the hatchback bit, and not having folding rear seats at all. Both of them actually are similar looking, both dark red with black interiors, but the AWD and turbo engine are WAY beyond what the small FWD Mazda V6 was. The SVX is also incrementally better than the Probe GT was. Better driveline, better engine, more power, quieter and smoother cruise, more comfortable, more options. But unfortunately, no manual from the factory, and no liftback. At least stick shifts can be added...
