E someone in Oz !!
now that set up sounds great...hmmm hmmm
I checked the pricing on 19s today [5 spoke alloy 19x8 with stainless steel lip..very clean though the spokes were a bit thin looking than what i wanted] but the $s are certainly getting up there....my tyre guy is saying $100 per tyre..and of course the rims are more as they sell a boat load of 18s these days.. Talking Ford patterns ..yeah your right in fact i like the latest wheels they are doing on the XR6s and 8s alloy, deep dish, blade style spoke going out to the edge of the rim which makes the wheel look bigger ..but I'm struggling to find a design similar ..my 2nd SVX..see the 1st in locker..but the 2nd is Bright Red..for that colour I want to go with an alloy look 5 spoke ..as my son described Ferrari - esque..as oppsed to 'rice'.. Dave that tire calculator is great, definitely beats doing it manually with a calculator. the rolling diametre of 235/40 18, 265/35 18 and 245/35 19, 285/30 19 is virtually the same. i think this will be the tire combonation that i will be aiming for, for the 19's the ones i was thinking of were roh drifters.

I would have to agree with longassname's recommendation. I've got 17x7.5" w/48 mm offset wheels, and I've got about 8-10 mm of clearance between the wheel and the inside of the fenderlip. An 18x8 with 45 mm offset will probably just barely fit if the tires are square with the edge of the wheel. Whether or not it rubs may even be somewhat dependent on your alignment settings. If you have very little negative camber, there's a greater chance the tire will rub. If you run anything wider than a 235, I think that will also increase the chances of rubbing.

I ran an 18 X 8 with 35mm offset. The fit was perfect as it filled up the fender beautifully. No rubbing issues, but I was running 215/40-18s. There was easily room for 225s, but the wheel place wouldn't guarantee they would fit.

Dry fittment
Sorry its taken a while but we did a dry fitment y'day with 18x8s for the front and same wheel on the back but 18x9s..wow ordering full set for next week to fit them up ...clearance seems to be good all round..
tyres ..At this stage we are looking at 235/40's or 245/40's front..we'll be checking for rubbing on the 245s...for the back...265/35s Have settled for choice of 2 rims styles - one mesh style was too heavy [weight] [cheaper] compared to the one I did select ..multi spoke INOX 2 by Koya ..nice wheel with a stainlees steel lip multi spoke design looks classy and modern on the car..in Oz very little availble in a staggered sizing in our stud pattern...9's on the back fill out the arches nicely.. Will update during the week with final outcome and pics if successful Dave 2 in Oz

I'm now running bronze Rota Actions (Advan RC II copy) in 17x7.5, 225/45R17 Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S and am loving it.
We're currently carrying all the Rotas in a number of fitments that work on the SVX. We are a PRODRIVE DEALER which means for those of you with the coin, I can get serious forged 18x8 and 18x8.5 wheels like the GC-010 and GC-07 in SVX fitments, +48 and +45 offset. 18x8s 235/40x18 fronts
18x9s 265/35x18 rears, 35 offset front 40 offset rears...now before I get buried with the offsets wrong here out the issue below with rubbing on the rear how do they go, front no issues, may be very so slightly proud of the guard..see pic..by a couple of mill, nothing in it rears plenty of room inside but slight rubbing in roundabouts on outside edge of tire on plastic strip inside the guard...looking at the rears sitting on the road, the wheels look as though they have toein [as the wheel comes to the ground they pull in towards the car..toein or toe out] this may be causing it to rub on corners ...but also there's a fair bit of room above the wheel when the car sits but if I get on to the back bar with my weight [75kgs] the body of the car is right down on the tire [shocks or springs tired..?? Your thoughts

I'm affraid it's like i warned you. That's the same size wheel i was running in the back with the 225's...which fit but it just looks wrong because the wheel sticks out past the wheel well. I chose to stick with the 8" =49 offset all around and that's what i recomend. You don't want your svx to look like one of those kids honda civics with wheels that don't really fit right do you? If you want to fill the back out more get 10mm spacers...with the 265's i'm not even sure you can do that. Did you check the actual rev's per mile for each tire you used? I'd be awfully afraid of transaxle or differntial failure with that set up.

I wouldn't be concerned about being close to the original my main concern would be being the same between the front and back. 794 and 797 are pretty close to the same though. If you're determined to run such fat tires put them on 8" wide wheels with a +49 or +48 offset and you should be ok. You really don't need a fatter tire in the back though. It usually makes the car push in corners and the svx puts more torque to the front than the back. It might make sense after a swap to the tranny out of the b11s though..whenever it finally comes out

I edited my original post further back, the back wheels have a 40 offset, this is common for wheel makers when they supply staggered fitments. D2Oz
