Straight through exhaust on a Harley was for a reason back in the early racing days .... more power cheaply. It was copied for the street as we all will do! That's how I rode mine. Now it's become a tradition for all large bike owners to have that sound.
I have lots of bikes going by my house each month ... I don't mind it at all. eh ... what did you say sonny... speak up btw ... the trucks that come by daily and use their engine brakes are far more annoying! ( but that's another story )
