Re: Tell Me This Isnt a Transmission Problem
Thats my main reluctance to use one of these Legacy transmissions- most of my driving is highway, and I really like the fact that at around 70 with the SVX transmission, the engine is doing less than 2,500 rpms. With the 4.44, its doing closer to 3,000. I'm less interested in performance and more interested in longevity and comfort.

Elemgee, If you wanted to retain the stock gearing of the SVX but wanted something extremely reliable, depending on what is wrong with your current unit, I would honestly suggest a partial rebuild from LAN. He replaces the clutch packs with stronger ones, replaces the brake band, modifies the valve body, and a few other things that I can't remember. Also, you may want a modified TCU that will also help tighten things up and add to the longevity of the transmission. |

+1
Michael is a straight-forward guy and offers a service that no one else does. I doubt you could find a tranny shop that would rebuild our transmission as well for anywhere near his price.

Re: Tell Me This Isnt a Transmission Problem
+2. Lan does good work. This trans is easy to modify, the trick is knowing what to modify. If you can do it yourself then go that route, or if you know someone personally who does really good trans work then you can order a rebuild kit from level 10. They also do wonders on torque converters. MAKE SURE you replace or have the converter rebuilt repeat MAKE SURE you replace or have the converter rebuilt as the 92 units are defective and replace or rebuild is always required in a trans rebuild no matter what you're working on
Also, if your cooler is in the fenderwell, you should be using a fan. are you bypassing the radiator one or keeping it in the loop?

Re: Tell Me This Isnt a Transmission Problem
I hope the shop covers the cost of the damage or better yet, hope there has been no real damage. I feel for you though. Good luck with it.

Re: Tell Me This Isnt a Transmission Problem
Who's LAN and how do I get in touch with him? Would he just sell me a rebuilt tranny? Thanks.
