gotcha. no one is touching this beast until its out of warranty though. depending on things go with blackie, you may get a crack at working on it.

in the 13 months i had my lgt, i didn't perform a single mod to it. as for the fxt, i may unmod it. the exhaust is just a little too loud for my tastes. either that or i will have to do some stereo mods.

i read that a you can plug in a 13 pin cable to the head unit to get a line in (why an in-dash 6-disc changer stereo has a plug for a CD changer, i don't know ) to run to an iPod. you must use a "silent CD", though.

you can get a Harman Kardon Drive+Play on ebay for ~$30 to charge, display, and control the iPod.

there is a kit to add an 8" sub in the factory location on the Forester forums. the stock sub is just a crappy 6x9 speaker fed with 18w from the head unit.

so back to the stereo...the factory unit leaves a lot to be desired. i have become accustomed to being able to control the iPod through the headunit so ideally i'd like that functionality. also, my latest aftermarket unit also has a usb 2.0 and a front aux-in jack so i can play cassettes, too! i'll check out that harmon kardon thing before i just take the headunit out of blackie and reinstall the factory one for the potential new owner.
