yeah that's what I liked about the Prius, I drove it pretty agressively and still got 49MPG.... I see them at work all the time that average 50+, but they get better mileage in town than they do on the highway...

I beat the hell out of a honda insight in town and on the hiway... got 64 mpg average. Little thing on hiway only was nocking down 80+ with regularity.

Yeah the Insight does get better mileage, but the Prius is practical for more than just driving to work :-P

And you know you're an SVX owner when you run out of things to add but you hijack the thread anyway...

Anyone wanna build a hybrid SVX? It's doable, FWD tranny, electric motor driving the rear axle... Only downfall is the car's so heavy that you couldn't get much into it in the way of batteries.

You know you are an SVX owner when...

You can never pump gas without getting into a very lengthy conversation with someone. And you see the look of shock when you tell them the car is 13 years old.

I still can't believe how incredibly cool the styling is on the SVX

Odd thing is, I remember seeing Legacies and Loyales and such, even back in the day when they were new, but I honestly NEVER remember EVER seeing an SVX, and they are a unique enough car that I know I'd remember seeing one on a dealer lot... (And I used to drive by the Subaru dealer every day on my way to preschool back in like 85-87 lol...)

I don't think you would have seen any SVXi on that lot then.

You know you are an SVX owner when...

You are having a conversation with another SVX owner about something completely different and somehow make a reference back to the SVX

TE1221: Check out this jet ski I want to get
94SubieSVX: Wow that color reminds me of a pearlie
TE1221: I think I would paint mine black on silver if I got an ugly color.
TE1221: you know its sad that we're relating this to an svx color. Although I wholeheartedly agree that the paint scheme on the jetski really is like a pearlie, i just thought I'd mention how sad we are.

lol yeah, didn't I tell you? The Subaru dealer in Auburn, CA is in a wormhole :-P lol no, I didn't see any SVXes back then, but I don't remember seeing them 92-97 either, at least not on dealer lots..... I think my earliest recollection of a Subaru, aside from my dad's work friend that had an 85 wagon that I rode in on many occasions, when I was in private school in 7th grade, this one kid's mom had a baby blue Loyale wagon, and whenever she'd pick him and his friend up from school in it, his friend would always say "Oh nooo, she brought the sooobarooooo" and I was always like "What's wrong with Subarus?" and he'd always reply with "Soobarooos are cheeeeeaaaap" (and yeah he drew it out like that lol)

I wonder what he'd think of me now with my fleet

Filled up with gas the other day and as I walked to the store to get my change (Change!?!), Guy coming out says, "That car looks like you just drove in from the future."

I drive a 1994 L. No, I didn't tell him he was talking about 13 year old car. Just said thanks. Oh yes, converted $40 into one tank of gas, a losing powerball ticket, and a $0.50 daily newspaper.

I'm pretty sure that is one of the intended uses.

You know you are an SVX owner when you dream about driving your car. Dreams occur more frequently the more time you spend away from it.

Ask me how I know

When you get so used to typing out "Subaru" that whenever you type something out that starts with "SU" you have "suba" typed out before you realize you're not typing the word "Subaru"

...when every time you plan a big event with the car, some combination of vehicle-crippling events occurs to make you garage the thing and miss said event.

Don't even ask how many times that's happened to me. I consider it top luck that the car made it through the cross-country trip without serious incident...

Side Note: Why does no one in SoCal carry an o-ring that's 15mm x 11mm x 2mm!? And why don't any Subaru dealers keep the damn things in stock!?
