Re: Dolphins' Massacre Festival in Italy
The only way to really justify this is if there is an overpopulation in the area... Jersey welcomes buck hunters with open arms because we have a severe deer overpopulation problem which the hunters help with... I do know that pilot whales are relatively in thin numbers though.

Re: Dolphins' Massacre Festival in Italy
wow i just watched the video posted by svexy96, it;s stories/video's like this that make me F'ing hate the human race. If I ever saw something like that happening I would do the same thing to those people that they do to the dolphins.

Re: Dolphins' Massacre Festival in Italy
Hey, just as long as we're able to admit that:
* Using "dolphins" instead of "pilot whales" is an appeal to the masses, as (for most people) dolphins are familiar, and "pilot whales" sounds a lot like "whales". * It's not a massacre festival. * It's not in Italy. Maybe that's the form that SilverSpear received it in, but zero percent of the subject is true. He's right, though - the blood sea is disgusting!

Re: Dolphins' Massacre Festival in Italy
LetitSnow, what's your point? are you trying to convince us that these acts aren't inhumane? Seems to me like you are bringing up irrelevant, trivial issues. To say it isn't a massacre is to turn a blind eye to the way these animals are brutally butchered. Regardless of where this is happening, doesn't take away that their reasoning of overpopulation or it's some sort of warped tradition is complete bs. Boaters/Fishermen are the one's doing it for profit!
But I digress, I am currently trying to find some sort of organization that condemn's these sort of acts... |

Re: Dolphins' Massacre Festival in Italy
Its understandable if they are trying to control overpopulation, but there is a more humane way to do it and considering humans are the most overpopulated creatures on earth we have no room to talk.

Are the whales brutally butchered? It looks - no, reads - like they're making it as humane as possible. Don't sweat the dolphins; that video is outright offensive and disapproved of by more substantial figures than you and I, but they're not the topic. Five bucks says if you post these pictures on another forum with a story about how sharks coaxed the whales into beaching themselves, and that they had to be cut to be easier for the locals in, say, Prague to handle, that it'll be bought up just as quick.

Re: Dolphins' Massacre Festival in Italy
They are also to feed the entire island, not just the people in the pictures. But yeah, it is pretty disgusting, but keep in mind they are for human consumption, they aren't just killing them and leaving them there to rot.
As for the dolphin video, I don't know what the deal is, but it's pretty gross, and I've never heard of anyone eating dolphin... Both of these might be a good thing to look up on snopes.com
