I disagree.

There are far greater ills working for personal gain at the expense of the people (the people ARE the country). I expect if you (generalizing "you") are one of these ills, everything Micheal Moore does would be an accost on your character. He's an antithesis to greedy corporate execs or corrupt officials, and everyone benefitting from these execs and officials. It's well-to-do vs not-so-well-to-do in the US, and the well-to-dos are ruining it for the not-so-well-to-dos. Someone has to speak for them because they are being swept under the rug in a system that favors trickery deceit and secrecy. That's probably alright with you if you don't care, but realize the people you are butting heads with are not like you, they actually care about people outside of their own friends and family.

("you" not directed at anyone here. I would not pretend to know any one here so well)

Wow, half way through this thing you linked to, are you trying to waste my time? This is pointless, heavily biased DRIVEL from a neo-con nit wit. Bashing of the highest order.

--
The very first line, "One of the many problems with the American left, and indeed of the American left, has been blah blah", is indicitave of heavy bias. This is a person that sees people not as Americans, but as left and right, red and blue, rich and poor, so on. Much like yourself, labeling me as "hippie" when you don't even know me.

This in my opinion is one of the sources of downfall in society and modern culture. I can see why you like this author. Congrats.

Let me get this straight...

You (yes I mean YOU Nikfu) will tell us how biased Landshark's link is, yet you fail to see the bias in Michael Moore's films/goals?

It boggles the mind!

I don't watch his films. I'd like to see Sicko, and I saw Fahrenheit once, I think. I don't follow the man closely nor am I concerned with whether he's biased or not. His bias is in my favor (probably). :P

Anyway I don't see what you guys have against him. He can't harm you.

--
Also I don't see how I can be boggling when I'm not the one going around being biased. My views are both fair and balanced. I crack on whoever deserves it, as well as praise whoever deserves praise. Have I praised Micheal Moore? No. I merely said I think he is a nice person. Is Landshark a nice person? Not to me, usually.

Just like anyone I react to what I percieve. I am however, objective, and nondiscriminaory.

One of his more biased movies... You say you are objective, yet dont mind bias, so long as its in your favor?

THATS the boggling part.

I saw that movie before I even knew who he was. Someone just told me to watch it.
I can be unbiased in my own views, doesn't mean I can't like someone just because they are biased. Obviously if someone is biased and I like what they are about I have no reason to dislike them. That would be truely hypocritical.

It's safe to say 99% of people are biased in some way. Does that mean I can only admire 1% of people?

Can anyone here even give a good reason to not like Micheal Moore? I have yet to hear from anyone anywhere anything but people who simply do not like him personally, but these people do not even know him personally.

What has he done that upsets you? Maybe if I knew what he did that was so bad I can dislike him too.

I did not meet Hitler personally, but I don't like him or what he did. The same goes for Michael Moore. I have not met the man, but I don't like what he stands for or what he says about our country. Just Watching

Just watching. I really don't have to say anything--it is being said for me and NOT by someone in Alaska. Some, and I won't mention names, just from Alaska, still don't get it.

here you go.....

Michael Moore is a paradox. A millionaire who boasts of wealth as proving his value -- "I'm a millionaire, I'm a multi-millionaire. I'm filthy rich. You know why I'm a multi-millionaire? 'Cause multi-millions like what I do. That's pretty good, isn't it?"

He lives in a million-dollar apartment, and boasts of that as well. "I walk among them. I live on the island of Manhattan, a three-mile-wide strip of land that is luxury home and corporate suite to America's elite..... Those who run your life live in my neighborhood. I walk in the streets with them each day."
For vacations, he keeps another million-dollar beachfront house in Michigan.

He sends his child to a private school -- no sense associating with the working class -- and has some trouble associating with them himself. The New York Post reported on a tantrum he threw in London: "Then, on his second-to-last night, [Michael Moore] raged against everyone connected with the Roundhouse and complained that he was being paid a measly $750 a night. 'He completely lost the plot,' a member of the stage crew told the London Evening Standard. 'He stormed around all day screaming at everyone, even the 5 pound-an-hour bar staff, telling them how we were all con men and useless. Then he went on stage and did it in public.' At his last appearance, staffers refused to work or even open the theater's doors."

He supplements his meager income with speaking tours. No more $750 gigs; on his 2004 pre-election tour he charged Utah Valley State College $40,000, Xavier $25,000, and University of New Mexico $35,000. Not bad for an hour or two's work.
Ah, the joys of capitalism....
One of his former associates summed him up: " You would think that he's the ultimate common man. But he's money-obsessed."

Micheal Moore Quotes:

"They are possibly the dumbest people on the planet."
(Moore, speaking about Americans to Britain's Mirror newspaper)

"If the small businesses suck they'll be driven out of business," he said. "If they got a good restaurant, people will go there and eat. You know in my town the small businesses that everyone wanted to protect? They were the people that supported all the right-wing groups. They were the Republicans in the town, they were in the Kiwanas, the Chamber of Commerce - people that kept the town all white. The small hardware salesman, the small clothing store salespersons, Jesse the Barber who signed his name three different times on three different petitions to recall me from the school board. **** all these small businesses - **** 'em all! Bring in the chains. The small businesspeople are the rednecks that run the town and suppress the people. **** 'em all. That's how I feel."
(During a speech given at Humboldt State University)

Talk about comparing apples to watermelons.
Just because you like the US, doesn't mean it's perfect.
If I understand the founding fathers correctly, it was their vision to change the country if it's in disarray, not run from it. Nobody should have to leave just because they find fault in it.

What I don't get is why old people don't care about the future unless it makes their children rich.

I'll watch his movies, but I can't guarantee I'll ever understand the other side of this issue. I don't want America to be a military power policing the world. I don't want rich CEO's buying off politicians. I don't want the goverment to be in control of practically everything. This is what is happening and Micheal Moore is against it. That is why I like him. I don't understand why you people would want these things.
