I know some people absolutely adore them. ...and they have their reasons. They just don't do what *I* want them to, how *I* want them to. At least I'm not an ignorant platform-bigot like many out there... I actually own and use one.

The only thing MAC lovers love more than their MACs is bashing PCs. They're all just mad because PCs are more popular
I don't get the point. If you like MACs, super. They are just fine and dandy. But to say they are "better than a PC" is stretching it. I don't see alot of evidence out there to support this idea. 5 years ago maybe, but not today. Anyway, back to the topic of the thread: Kelli - if your printer does not work with XP right now, then you probably should just get a new one. From what you said about it, it sounds like a parallel (OLD) setup, and you are much better off with a USB (NEW) setup. Besides, printers are one of the cheaper PC components there is. Though your old one may be able to work with XP, you are going to have some problems with it down the road. As for CD burning, I highly recommend just about any version of Nero. It can't do everything, but it gets darn close and it's fairly easy to use. |

and on the Mac arguement they're different. they do a lot of things better (and for the most part the processors and video cards are replaceable. i just replaced both in a g4 tower.) the also don't have near the widespread use as pcs, which limits software availability. but because there aren't huge numbers of them, they are less affected by virus's. (it goes round and round and round)

[Muttering under my breath: Sorry I even brought it up.]
So, how many of you Mac-haters own an iPod? dcb |

Mandi had an old parallel printer that she tried to use with windows XP. Downloaded two new programs (driver and interface software) to make it work. It worked...sometimes. She just got an HP Photosmart 7550 off of ebay for $80 and the thing is flat out amazing. The pictures it prints are sharper than developed photos. Plus it installed itself. Just plugged it in, turned it on, and it did the rest. I'm sure Kelli would love that.
Give up the dumb MAC argument. The longer this argument goes on, the more we are comparing apples to oranges. MAC has become a niche computer, not for just anyone. As time goes by they get more and more focused, and less and less useful. How can an expensive, largely non-upgradeable, limited use system compete with a completely interchangeable and upgradeable unlimited use system that's cheaper to begin with? |

What's the big deal about the iPod anyway? There are much nicer offerings out there that are cheaper to boot.

I love the iPod...... and I love Mac's..... However, because of price and because of what I currently do, I own a PC... I wish it were diffrent but hey, I can pretend right ... .Those of you with unlimited access to www.wincustomize.com know that there are plenty of pregrams and skins out there so that we can make Windows XP look just like a Mac ... I'll have to post a picture of my work computer's desktop, and a mac, and my home computer's desktop... Then see if people can figure out which is the real mac

To quote Charile Brown: Good grief.
There was no "Mac argument" 'til all the geniuses chimed-in; I simply made a reasonable suggestion, and will happily leave it with that. dcb |
