Well, I bought the car!!!!!!! (Yes, Nexus 7, the blue one in NJ.) TomsSVX confirmed that the resistor was the problem in Philly. SVXfiles replaced it for me in Cumberland, MD, and ran a diagnostic on my TCU. Everything else checks out. (I bought him an ohm meter in exchange. That was a whole lot cheaper than $60.) Now I'm finally back home! Only a stone hit my windshield on the PA Turnpike when I was following Tom from Philly to Reading. The next morning, before I got on the highway, I saw it had developed into a full blown crack! For those of you wondering about the "thunk"/resistor, Tom said that some people remove the resistor because they want that feel.

Glad to hear you got the car.
Now its time for me to have another weekend project playing with the resistor, or maybe discovering that mine had been taken out.

I read the "How-To" change resistor yourself... Except I have no clue where to get such a replacement... can someone point me in the correct direction?
